Kubfu is a story reward in The Isle of Armor, not a Pokémon you normally catch in the wild in Galar. Complete the Master Dojo’s three trials, receive Kubfu from Mustard, raise its friendship, then choose one of the Two Towers to evolve it: Tower of Darkness gives Single Strike Style Urshifu, while Tower of Waters gives Rapid Strike Style Urshifu. The choice is based on your adventure—not whether you own Sword or Shield.
How to get Kubfu in Pokémon Sword and Shield
Kubfu’s story takes place in The Isle of Armor, which is included in the Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield Expansion Pass. Make sure you have the pass that matches your base game. The cited walkthrough describes accessing the island by speaking to the attendant at Wedgehurst Station and travelling to Armor Station; current store availability may vary by region.
- Access The Isle of Armor through the Expansion Pass for your version of the game.
- Speak to the attendant at Wedgehurst Station and travel to Armor Station.
- Go to the Master Dojo and complete its three trials.
- After the trials, speak with Mustard to receive Kubfu.
This is a story progression reward, so you do not need to search tall grass or use a Poké Ball to catch Kubfu.
Prepare Kubfu for a tower
Raise Kubfu’s friendship with you, then return to Mustard. The walkthrough recommends having Kubfu at level 70 or higher for the tower challenge; that is guidance from GameWith, not a stated official minimum level.

You can complete only one tower for this evolution, so choose according to the form you want. The official Pokémon page says the form depends on choices made during the adventure, not on Sword versus Shield.
