Pokémon TCG Pocket’s Mythical Island expansion launched on December 17, 2024. It added more than 80 digital cards to the iOS and Android game, including new Pokémon ex and Trainer cards, with Mew as a key feature. Players could collect cards through in-app booster packs and Wonder Pick.
When did Mythical Island release?
DeNA announced Mythical Island on December 12, 2024, and said it would become playable in Pokémon TCG Pocket on December 17, 2024. It was a digital expansion inside the mobile game, not a physical booster product identified by the announcement. DeNA’s announcement described collecting cards by opening booster packs or using Wonder Pick.
The announcement described new illustrations featuring Pokémon including Mew, along with binder and display-board covers depicting Mythical Island scenery. It also said the cards could support deck-building and battles in solo or versus modes.
How many cards are in Mythical Island?
The Pokémon Company’s December 12, 2024 trailer description promoted more than 80 cards, including five new Pokémon ex cards and five new Trainer cards. It called out Mew and Celebi among the featured ex cards. The official trailer description gives those launch-period promotional counts.

For a more specific total, PokéBeach’s December 16, 2024 set guide reports 86 cards: 68 in the main set and 18 secret rares. That detailed breakdown is secondary reporting; DeNA and the trailer description use the broader figure of more than 80 rather than confirming the 86-card total.
Which Pokémon and cards are featured?
Mew is the expansion’s central featured Pokémon, and the official trailer description also names Celebi. PokéBeach’s guide lists five Pokémon ex cards: Mew ex, Celebi ex, Gyarados ex, Aerodactyl ex, and Pidgeot ex. The complete card list and those specific names come from PokéBeach’s Mythical Island set guide, rather than an official checklist.
How could players collect the cards?
At launch, DeNA named two in-app collection routes. The sources do not establish comparative odds, costs, or whether Mythical Island packs remain available in the app today.
