Space-Time Smackdown (A2) launched in Pokémon TCG Pocket on 30 January 2025. The digital expansion brings Sinnoh Pokémon into the game, with Dialga ex and Palkia ex among its featured cards. Trading was discussed separately in a Pokémon TCG Pocket Team letter earlier that month; the rules it described were launch-era plans, not confirmation of how trading works today.
When did Space-Time Smackdown release?
Space-Time Smackdown became available in Pokémon TCG Pocket on 30 January 2025, according to The Pokémon Company International’s release-day announcement. Its 23 January preview had announced that date in advance.
What is in the A2 expansion?
The expansion is themed around Sinnoh, the region associated with Pokémon Diamond and Pearl. Pokémon’s announcement features Dialga ex and Palkia ex and promotes new Pokémon ex, Trainer, and immersive cards.
Those descriptions identify advertised card categories, not a complete checklist. The official material cited here does not establish a definitive A2 card count or provide a full card-by-card list, so a precise total or pack-by-pack breakdown cannot be confirmed from it.

Are Space-Time Smackdown packs physical booster packs?
No. Space-Time Smackdown is an expansion inside the digital game Pokémon TCG Pocket. Its packs and cards are in-app content; they are not physical Pokémon TCG booster packs. Buying paper-card products, sleeves, or binders does not unlock A2 cards in Pocket.

Trading was a separate feature from the expansion release. In a 16 January 2025 community letter, the Pokémon TCG Pocket Team outlined the feature’s initial scope:
Rank #2
- PACK CONTENTS: Contains 10 random Pokemon trading cards from the Scarlet & Violet Prismatic Evolutions expansion set per booster pack
- ARTWORK VARIETY: Each booster pack features randomly selected pack artwork from the available designs in this expansion
- CARD POTENTIAL: Possibility to pull rare, ultra-rare, and special variant cards featuring Pokemon from the Scarlet & Violet series
- GAME COMPATIBILITY: All cards are tournament-legal and can be used in official Pokemon Trading Card Game matches
- COLLECTION VALUE: Perfect for collectors and players alike, with cards featuring stunning illustrations and powerful game mechanics
- Trades would take place between friends.
- Cards would need to be of the same rarity.
- The eligible rarities at launch were diamond 1 through 4 and star 1.
- Only certain cards from Genetic Apex and Mythical Island were eligible at the feature’s launch.
- Trading would consume items.
The team said it planned to expand the selection of tradeable booster packs and would assess future updates based on player feedback and the balance between ease and enjoyment of collecting. These are historical statements from January 2025. They do not establish current eligible cards, pack availability, or item costs; check the current in-app trading screens or official updates for those details.
