Microsoft’s servicing note states: This issue is addressed in KB5060829.
That statement applies to the documented 24H2 incident, not automatically to every Windows computer that displays a missing printer. Confirm the edition, version, OS build, and update history before applying a build-specific remedy.
How do I check my Windows version and update history?
- Open Settings > System > About. Record the Windows edition, version, and OS build.
- Open Settings > Windows Update > Update history. Look for KB5055627, KB5060829, and the most recent cumulative or servicing updates.
- If the device is Windows 11 version 24H2 and the failure began after KB5055627, install the applicable update offered for that build through Windows Update. Do not force a package intended for a different edition or build.
- Restart Windows after servicing completes, then check Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Printers & scanners again.
Windows labels and feature behavior can change in later builds. The version and build check prevents you from treating a 24H2-specific error as proof that every installation has the same underlying fault.
How do I restore Print to PDF with Windows Features?
This is the lowest-risk, reversible repair when the virtual printer is missing system-wide.
- Press Windows + R.
- Enter
optionalfeaturesand press Enter. The Windows Features dialog opens. - Find Microsoft Print to PDF in the list. If its box is clear, select it and choose OK.
- Allow Windows to apply the change. Restart when Windows requests it.

- Open Windows Features again, select Microsoft Print to PDF, choose OK, and restart if requested.
- Check the printer list and run the Notepad test again.
Changing this feature does not remove your physical printers. It only removes and reinstalls the Windows virtual-printer component, and the change can be reversed through the same dialog.
What should I do if enabling the feature returns 0x800f0922?
Use PowerShell to repeat the feature operation, then compare the error with the device’s build and update history. Open PowerShell as Administrator and run these commands in order:

- Confirm that Microsoft Print to PDF is selected and shown as ready.
- Review page size, orientation, layout, and page range. A mismatched layout can make a valid printer appear unusable.
- Check whether an unintended Print to file option is selected; that setting is different from choosing Microsoft Print to PDF.

How can I verify that the repair really worked?
- Microsoft Print to PDF appears under Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Printers & scanners.
- Notepad or Paint can create a one-page PDF without an error.

Will resetting the Print Spooler delete documents from my computer?
The documented reset deletes pending files in the printer queue folder, not documents in your personal folders. Any jobs waiting to print are discarded and must be submitted again.
Why does the printer name appear in Settings but not in a game’s print dialog?
