The exact “11.0-2e” suffix is not verified by the official Proton pages cited here. Valve’s changelog includes Proton 11.0-1 entries and later Proton 11-related changes; it does not establish that the Xalia fix was released under the specific “11.0-2e” label. GamingOnLinux reported on August 21, 2026, that Proton 11.0-2 was available as a stable update for Linux, SteamOS, Steam Deck, and Steam Machine. That report identifies the stable release as 11.0-2, not 11.0-2e.

Accordingly, the supportable claim is that Proton 11-related changes updated Xalia to address EA App interaction lockups. The evidence does not establish “11.0-2e” as a distinct Valve release.
How this differs from the other EA-related Proton 11 fixes
Proton’s changelog records separate EA-related fixes under Proton 11.0-1. They should not be conflated with the Xalia 0.4.9 launcher-interaction fix.

Valve describes Proton as “the compatibility layer that allows Windows games to run on Linux by using a modified version of Wine and a collection of high-performance graphics API implementations.” Valve’s Steamworks documentation explains Proton’s role in running Windows games on Linux. The Steam Deck is one relevant SteamOS device, but no new hardware is required to receive or use a Proton software update.

Compatibility is game-specific. Valve’s documentation notes that some anti-cheat systems require configuration by the game publisher, including manual integration steps for Easy Anti-Cheat and BattlEye. A Proton changelog entry therefore cannot guarantee that a particular game or launcher will work in every operating-system, device, or game configuration. For developers, Valve points to its Steamworks Forum, Proton issue tracker, and Valve contact channels for compatibility issues.

The available information does not support a blanket recommendation to switch every game to a different Proton version. If the EA App is locking up, check the exact Proton version selected for that game and whether the changelog for that version includes the Xalia 0.4.9 change. Stable Proton 11.0-2 and Proton Experimental or beta are distinct release channels; the cited sources do not establish that every channel or build contains the same changes.

If a game still fails after an update, treat the launcher lockup, a game failing to start, and an overlay problem as separate symptoms. The Proton notes discussed here do not prove the cause of an individual failure or guarantee a fix for that setup.
