Nintendo Switch Online
The individual U.S. plan is listed at $19.99 per year, or $59.97 for three years. Nintendo also sells family and Expansion Pack tiers at higher prices. Choose those only when the extra classic-game libraries, downloadable content, or household access replace another expense; they are not part of the $459.96 baseline.
Xbox Game Pass
Subscription value depends on the tier you select. Tom’s Guide reported Game Pass Ultimate at $22.99 per month in September 2026. The resale conclusion is an economic inference: the value depends on local prices, how quickly you sell, shipping or travel costs, and whether a game retains demand. A disc model can therefore recover a hardware-price difference over several purchases, but there is no universal break-even point.

When digital is worth the trade-off

Nintendo accessories with published prices

PS5 and Xbox Series X are home consoles; their value is concentrated in television play, performance, and their respective game ecosystems.
Portability does not have a single dollar value, so treat it as a decision criterion rather than adding an invented amount to the table. A household that travels frequently may rationally choose the Switch even when another console offers better graphics per dollar; a player with a 4K television and a large subscription library may place more value on a home system.
