The RAGE:MP Team announced that the platform would end support on August 31, 2026, and that its backend and server toolkit would be shut down. That date has passed. If you run a community, the practical next step is to plan a migration—RAGE:MP’s announcement points owners toward FiveM—rather than shop for a “cheapest” RAGE:MP host.
Can you still host a RAGE:MP server?
There is no reliable basis for treating RAGE:MP as a currently supported hosting option. In its May 25, 2026 announcement, the RAGE:MP Team said it would wind down the platform at Take-Two’s request. The announcement set an end-of-support date of August 31, 2026, said the client and server toolkit would no longer be available or supported after then, and said the backend would be permanently shut down. As of October 13, 2026, that announced date is in the past.

That is why an old hosting page, forum post, or price listing is not enough to establish that a new RAGE:MP server can be created or that an existing one will remain usable. A host can rent you server resources, but it cannot restore a discontinued game-server toolkit or backend. The RAGE:MP Team had already said new community servers would no longer be accepted and public access to the toolkit would be discontinued immediately when it announced the wind-down.

| Date | Announcement milestone | What it means for owners |
|---|---|---|
| May 25, 2026 | The RAGE:MP Team published its shutdown announcement. | It announced the wind-down and the end of new community-server acceptance. |
| June 1, 2026 | The public server listing was scheduled to close. | The announcement gave communities a deadline for the listing, not evidence of continuing availability after the date. |
| August 31, 2026 | Support was scheduled to end, with remaining community servers expected to stop by then. | The team said the toolkit and client would no longer be available or supported and the backend would be permanently shut down. |
The team summarized the immediate change with the heading “No New Community Servers” and said, “By that time, community servers must have migrated.” Those statements describe the announced wind-down; they are not a promise that every server or saved resource was automatically transferred.

Where should a RAGE:MP community move?
The RAGE:MP Team identified FiveM as the destination it wanted communities to use. Its announcement said Rockstar Games and Take-Two had identified FiveM as the authorized platform for GTAV multiplayer modding, and described FiveM as “Rockstar Games’ official platform for modding-based experiences.” That is the team’s characterization in its migration announcement, not a substitute for independent legal advice or a broader legal conclusion.
FiveM is not simply a new host for the same server files. Cfx.re’s migration documentation describes differences between GTAV multiplayer platforms in scripts and runtimes, entity ownership and synchronization, routing buckets, and other platform behavior. That means the migration involves adapting and testing a server, not just copying files to another machine or changing a billing plan.

What changes in a migration
| Area | What the migration documentation flags | Practical implication |
|---|---|---|
| Scripts and runtimes | Implementation differs across platforms. | Inventory each resource, identify its dependencies, and port or replace it for the target platform. |
| Entities | Entity ownership and synchronization behavior can differ. | Test gameplay involving shared or networked entities rather than assuming it behaves as it did on RAGE:MP. |
| Routing buckets | Platform behavior and implementation may differ. | Check any instancing or separation features your community uses and verify the intended behavior in FiveM. |
| Other platform behavior | The guide notes additional runtime and platform differences. | Test the complete player experience, including resource interactions, before announcing the new server as ready. |
How to plan a move to FiveM
Start with the community’s working server, not a hosting checkout page. A provider change does not convert RAGE:MP resources into FiveM resources, and an untested migration can leave players without familiar features or working data. Cfx.re’s migration and setup documentation supports both provider-hosted and self-managed routes; choose one after you know what the server needs.

- Inventory the existing server. Record the resources and scripts in use, their dependencies, configuration, databases, player-facing features, and any custom maps or assets. Identify what is essential for launch and what can wait. This is a planning step for your team; it is not a claim that RAGE:MP’s shutdown preserved or transferred those files.
- Map each component to a FiveM plan. For every resource, determine whether it needs to be ported, replaced, reconfigured, or retired. Pay particular attention to scripting/runtime differences, networked entity behavior, and routing buckets, which Cfx.re explicitly addresses in its guide to migrating from other GTAV multiplayer platforms.
- Choose managed hosting or self-management. Cfx.re’s server setup material lists game-server hosting providers as one route and provides self-managed setup guidance for Windows and Linux. A provider may simplify server operations, while self-management gives your team responsibility for the machine and its configuration. The official setup pages do not establish which route is cheaper or better for a particular community.
- Prepare the FiveM server environment. Cfx.re’s setup documentation covers downloading server artifacts and running FXServer with txAdmin. It also requires a free Cfx license key before setup. Follow the current official setup instructions for the operating system and server route you select; avoid relying on old instructions for a different platform.
- Port and test the resources. Bring over only the components you have adapted for FiveM. Test core gameplay, permissions, persistence, player joining, and the interactions between resources. The documented differences mean a resource that existed on the old server should not be treated as confirmed compatible without testing.
- Check connectivity and capacity. Cfx.re’s troubleshooting guidance identifies port forwarding and firewall configuration as possible causes of visibility or connection problems. It also says servers with more than 48 player slots require an Element Club Argentum subscription or higher. Confirm that your network rules and target player capacity match the current requirements.
- Keep artifacts supported and coordinate the launch. Cfx.re warns that outdated server artifacts may continue to work without support, and artifacts more than three months old will not be joinable from the server browser. Check its current artifact support guidance when preparing launch. Set a migration window, tell players what is changing, and leave time to troubleshoot before treating the new server as the community’s main home.
What should you compare when choosing FiveM hosting?
No current provider has been established here as the cheapest, best-performing, or independently validated choice. Cfx.re’s setup documentation confirms that provider hosting is an available route, but it does not provide current comparative prices, service quality, or evidence that one vendor is the right fit. Compare dated quotes from candidates using the same workload and location assumptions instead of reusing prices or recommendations published for RAGE:MP.

- Flawless 4K@60Hz Video with HDMI: Delivers exceptional clarity and smoothness with its 4K@60Hz HDMI port, making it ideal for high-definition presentations and entertainment. (Note: Only the HDMI port supports video projection; the USB-C port is for data transfer only.)
- Double Up on Efficiency: The two USB-A 3.0 ports and a USB-C port support a fast 5Gbps data rate, significantly boosting your transfer speeds and improving productivity.
- Fast and Reliable 85W Charging: Offers high-capacity, speedy charging for laptops up to 85W, so you spend less time tethered to an outlet and more time being productive.
- What You Get: Anker USB-C Hub (7-in-1), welcome guide, 18-month warranty, and our friendly customer service.
- Total cost: Compare the amount due at checkout with the renewal price. Check for setup fees, location surcharges, required add-ons, and the billing interval so a low initial price is not mistaken for a low ongoing cost.
- Compute and memory: Ask what CPU allocation and memory are included, and what evidence supports any single-thread performance claims. Consider the resources your scripts and expected player load need rather than choosing on a headline slot count alone.
- Storage and backups: Check storage limits, backup frequency, retention, restoration process, and whether backups include databases and configuration as well as server files.
- Region and latency: Choose a location that makes sense for the community’s players. A distant server can undermine the player experience even if the plan appears inexpensive.
- Network protection: Read the provider’s DDoS terms for coverage scope, exclusions, and what happens during an attack. Do not infer protection details from a short marketing label.
- Control and portability: Verify access to files, databases, console, scheduled restarts, and txAdmin where supported. Ask how you can export data and configuration if you leave.
- Support and exit terms: Check support hours, response channels, refund and cancellation conditions, and whether you can cancel without losing access to files needed for migration.
- Current compatibility: Confirm support for current FiveM server artifacts and the player capacity your community intends to use. For more than 48 slots, account for Cfx.re’s stated Element Club Argentum-or-higher requirement.
Request quotes on the same date and compare equivalent locations, resources, billing periods, and service terms. Without that like-for-like comparison, calling a vendor “cheapest” is not a meaningful claim.
If you want a managed host to test your FiveM migration on, Godlike.Host offers FiveM servers and a free server card (1 GB, 10 slots) for trying its panel; a free server must be extended every 3 hours, has limited panel features and one location. It is not on Cfx.re’s list of authorized FiveM hosts (fivem.net, 10 Oct 2026).

Why old RAGE:MP hosting information can mislead
Older setup instructions remain useful only as historical context. The RAGE Multiplayer wiki documented Windows and Linux server installation and default ports of UDP 22005 for server access and UDP 22006 for HTTP hosting of client packages. Those details do not establish that the platform remains available after its announced shutdown, so they should not be used as a recipe for launching a new supported server.
Likewise, an old RAGE:MP server-listing result showed 136 servers and 8,706 gamers online, with a gamer peak of 90,815. That result was crawled roughly 2.6 years before October 13, 2026. It is stale, cannot describe the platform’s present activity, and does not prove that a server can still be created or joined.

Price anecdotes and archived host listings have the same limitation: they describe an earlier market, not a current supported service. A historical monthly price does not answer whether the platform’s backend, toolkit, or client is available now.
Can you still use an old server or toolkit?
The official announcement said support and toolkit availability would end after August 31, 2026, and that the backend would be permanently shut down. It does not provide a supported workaround for keeping a RAGE:MP server online after that date. Therefore, an old machine, server package, or copied configuration should not be presented as a dependable way to restore the platform. The evidence also does not establish that all local files or community data were erased; it establishes what the team announced about availability and support. Preserve any files your team still controls, but do not mistake local possession for a functioning supported service.
If the community has not moved yet, prioritize identifying the data and resources still accessible to your team, assigning owners for porting and testing, and communicating a realistic restart plan. Do not promise that every script or player record can transfer until you have verified it in the FiveM environment.
