Is Ubisoft investigating a Rainbow Six Siege crossplay crash?
The crossplay-specific claim remains unverified: the available material does not establish that Ubisoft confirmed an investigation into crashes caused by crossplay. That is different from saying no such issue exists; it means the claim cannot be substantiated from an accessible Ubisoft incident notice or support post.
What is documented is a separate PC launch-crash report. On October 2, 2026, Insider Gaming quoted a Rainbow Six Siege team post saying: “We’ve received reports of crashes occurring on PC when attempting to launch the game. Our investigation has found that this issue is related to the latest Windows Preview updates.” The report attributed a temporary workaround to Ubisoft: uninstall KB5124010 (Build 26200.9550) and KB5121794. What Rainbow Six Siege crossplay settings actually do
Ubisoft supports crossplay in Rainbow Six Siege. Its support page says crossplay is enabled by default on PC and disabled by default on consoles. On console, the in-game setting is Options > General > Crossplay Matchmaking; Xbox players can also change crossplay settings in the console settings. Crossplay affects matchmaking pools, not just whether a crash occurs. Ubisoft’s November 17, 2024 Operation Collision Point announcement says a squad that includes a PC player enters the PC matchmaking pool. Ubisoft’s Operation Collision Point announcement. If the game crashes while launching on PC
First determine whether the symptom matches the reported Windows Preview update issue: the report concerns crashes when attempting to launch the game on PC. It does not establish that disabling crossplay will help. Because the reported Windows-update workaround is temporary and may no longer reflect current support advice, verify Ubisoft’s latest guidance before uninstalling an update. If you suspect crossplay is involved
- On console, review Options > General > Crossplay Matchmaking. On Xbox, check the console’s crossplay setting as well. Ubisoft support instructions.
- Record the platform, input device, game version, and—on PC—the installed Windows updates.
- Note exactly what you were doing when the crash happened, the steps that reproduce it, whether changing the crossplay setting changes the result, and any workaround you tried. These observations can help distinguish a matchmaking-related pattern from a general crash; they do not by themselves prove a cause.
- Submit a bug report with the steps taken, expected behavior, reproduction steps, workaround, and supporting images or video. Ubisoft’s technical troubleshooting and bug-reporting guidance.
