Its Sensa HD Haptics make explosions, engines and other bass-heavy effects feel more substantial, while the OLED Control Hub, four connection modes and simultaneous 2.4GHz/Bluetooth audio add genuine convenience. But at $399.99 in the U.S., it is expensive, heavy, software-dependent and much less compelling with the haptics switched off.

What is the Razer Kraken V4 Pro?
The Kraken V4 Pro is a premium wireless gaming headset built around two features that distinguish it from conventional Kraken models: Razer Sensa HD Haptics and an OLED Control Hub. It also includes 40mm TriForce Bio-Cellulose drivers, THX Spatial Audio, a retractable HyperClear Super Wideband microphone, nine-zone Chroma RGB and support for multiple wired and wireless connection types.

Razer’s launch announcement and specification page identify Sensa HD Haptics and the OLED hub as the model’s defining additions over the standard Kraken V4.
Are the haptics useful or gimmicky?
They are more than a gimmick, but they are not a replacement for good positional audio. The haptic drivers in both earcups create a physical sensation when suitable low-frequency content is detected. Explosions, gunfire, vehicle engines and heavy musical impacts can feel as though they are reaching your head rather than merely playing beside your ears.
The effect is most persuasive in action games, racing games, flight simulators and cinematic single-player titles. It can also add weight to films and bass-heavy music. It is less useful for dialogue, footsteps and other high-frequency detail, and it should not be treated as a proven competitive advantage. There is no basis for claiming that vibration improves esports performance or spatial awareness in a controlled, universal way.
There are two different kinds of haptic behavior:
- Audio-to-Haptics: the headset converts selected audio frequencies into vibration. This can work with ordinary audio, so it is not limited to games with special support.
- Game-driven haptics: supported software or titles can provide effects linked more deliberately to gameplay intensity, direction and duration. This is not available in every game.
Razer’s Dynamic profile combines game-driven effects with audio-to-haptics. The other profiles are Controlled, Balanced and Custom. Haptic intensity is adjustable independently of the audio volume, and the headset can be used with haptics turned off.
That last option matters. Moderate vibration can make a campaign or racing session more immersive, while high intensity may become tiring, distracting or intrusive during a long session. In competitive shooters, many players will prefer haptics off or at a restrained setting so that physical bass does not compete with subtle audio cues.
Some integrations may require supported games, Synapse configuration or an additional ecosystem such as SimHub. The safe assumption is that audio-derived vibration is broadly available, while title-specific behavior is not universal. Razer’s Master Guide explains the headset’s profiles and controls.

Sound quality
The Kraken V4 Pro produces strong, energetic gaming audio, but its default presentation is not designed around strict neutrality. Bass-heavy content is the obvious priority, and the haptics reinforce that impression. Dialogue remains clear, while games, films and music can benefit from the headset’s scale and impact.

Synapse 4 also exposes more detailed equalizer controls, so the headset is capable of sounding more balanced than its default tuning suggests. Independent reviews from PC Gamer and GamesRadar both emphasize the value of adjusting the sound rather than accepting a single factory profile.
THX Spatial Audio can provide a wider virtual presentation for compatible PC use, but virtual surround is a preference rather than an automatic upgrade. Some games may sound more spacious with it enabled; others can sound less direct or make positional cues harder to judge. It is worth comparing stereo and THX modes in the games you actually play.
The headset is capable of convincing positional imaging, but the haptics do not create spatial information by themselves. They add physical impact. If your priority is the cleanest competitive-footstep presentation, a lighter conventional headset may be a better fit.
Wireless performance and connection options
The Kraken V4 Pro offers unusually broad connectivity:
- 2.4GHz Razer HyperSpeed Wireless through the OLED Control Hub
- Bluetooth 5.3
- USB wired audio
- 3.5mm analog audio through the Control Hub
Razer says the hub can keep up to three systems connected and switch between sources. It also supports simultaneous 2.4GHz and Bluetooth audio—for example, game audio from a PC or console alongside a phone call or mobile Discord session. Independent coverage from Windows Central and Stuff reports reliable wireless range, stability and low-latency performance in their use.

- Razer HyperSense: Converting sound signals into vibrations in real time, the Razer Kaira Pro provides tactile feedback from within the earcups with an intensity level that’s controlled via the Razer Audio App
- TriForce Titanium 50mm Drivers: With titanium-coated diaphragms for added clarity, these drivers can tune highs, mids, and lows separately—producing rich, full-range sound for deeper gaming immersion
- Detachable HyperClear Supercardioid Mic: Experience greater noise rejection from the sides and back plus better voice isolation that’s supported by mic monitoring and game/chat balance for optimal audio levels
- Razer SmartSwitch: Easily switch between audio from your console and phone for total convenience while gaming
- Low-Latency Bluetooth with Quick Connect: Toggle Gaming Mode via the Razer Audio App to reduce latency for smoother mobile gameplay - utilize its Quick Connect feature to switch between previously connected devices with just one tap
The Control Hub makes this more practical than a headset that technically supports several devices but hides switching in software. The trade-off is that the hub becomes part of the desk setup, and the 3.5mm connection is on the hub rather than directly on the headset.
Platform compatibility
Compatibility depends on the connection method, and “works with consoles” does not mean every PC feature follows you to every platform.
- PC: the fullest feature set, including Synapse 4, detailed EQ, THX Spatial Audio, haptic customization, RGB and OLED configuration.
- Mac: wireless and wired use are supported, but Windows-focused Synapse features may not be available in the same form.
- PlayStation: USB/2.4GHz and other wired options are available, with feature limitations compared with PC.
- Xbox: confirm the exact connection path and console compatibility before purchase; do not assume every hub input works identically on Xbox.
- Nintendo Switch: USB and Bluetooth should be considered separately, particularly between docked and handheld use.
- Mobile: Bluetooth is the practical option, especially for calls or Discord.
Razer’s product page and the Master Guide are the appropriate references for current connection details. Treat THX Spatial Audio and advanced Synapse customization as primarily PC-centric unless the documentation explicitly confirms otherwise.
The OLED Control Hub: useful tool or expensive accessory?
The hub is more than a decorative display. Its clickable control knob and buttons provide quick access to volume, EQ, haptic profile and intensity, input selection, sidetone, chat balance, RGB and OLED brightness.
The OLED screen can show animations, images, text, audio meters and headset or system information. It also makes switching between multiple connected systems easier. That is genuinely useful for someone moving between a gaming PC, console and phone throughout the day.
Its value is lower in a single-device setup. Detailed preset editing, haptic frequency ranges, haptic gain, RGB configuration and OLED content still require Synapse 4. As WePC notes, the hub provides fast controls, but it does not eliminate the need for software.

- OLED CONTROL HUB — Customize and centralize the control of battlestation with one powerful device; check PC system metrics at a glance, adjust headset settings, switch audio to another connected system, and more
- RAZER SENSA HD HAPTICS — Feel the games like never before with the next leap in haptic technology; experience layered and realistic haptic feedback that mirrors the intensity, direction, and duration of in-game audio
- 4 MODES OF CONNECTIVITY — Enjoy full audio immersion no matter the scenario on PC, console or phone; go wireless with ultra fast 2.4 GHz and Bluetooth or stay plugged in for non-stop gaming via USB or 3.5 mm
- RETRACTABLE HYPERCLEAR SUPER WIDEBAND MIC — By covering a wider frequency range of sound, this next-gen retractable mic captures an incredible amount of detail in the voice, so that everything said sounds clear, rich, and natural
- TRIFORCE BIO-CELLULOSE 40 MM DRIVERS — Our upgraded TriForce design utilizes an ultra thin bio-cellulose diaphragm, improving soundstage and reducing distortion for distinct clarity and deep bass reproduction
Microphone quality
The retractable HyperClear Super Wideband microphone is a sensible design choice: it disappears into the earcup when not needed and stays ready for team chat when it is. Razer positions it as a wide-frequency, clarity-focused microphone with background-noise handling.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Independent reviews generally regard the microphone as clear enough for Discord and in-game chat, though it is still a processed gaming-headset microphone rather than a replacement for a dedicated USB microphone. Sidetone and mute controls are useful, but microphone behavior can vary between 2.4GHz, Bluetooth and wired modes. Buyers who need broadcast-quality voice should keep that distinction in mind.
Comfort, weight and build
At 397g without the Control Hub, the Kraken V4 Pro is not a lightweight headset. The standard Kraken V4 is listed at 350g, so the Pro model’s extra hardware is noticeable on paper and potentially on your head.
It uses leatherette memory-foam cushions and swiveling earcups. The swivel mechanism can help the headset sit more naturally, while the cushions provide passive isolation and help convey the haptic effect. The compromises are heat and fit: leatherette can become warm during long sessions, especially in hot climates, and comfort will vary with head size, glasses, hair and clamp pressure.
The weight may be acceptable for shorter cinematic sessions but tiring over several hours. If low weight is your first priority, the Kraken V4 Pro is a poor candidate regardless of how much you like its features.

Battery life: the 50-hour figure needs context
Razer rates the headset for:
- Up to 50 hours over 2.4GHz with haptics and lighting off
- Up to 45 hours with haptics and lighting off while using 2.4GHz and Bluetooth together
- Up to 13 hours over 2.4GHz with haptics and lighting on
Razer also states that a full charge takes around four hours and that 15 minutes of charging can provide approximately five hours of use. These are manufacturer ratings, not independent endurance measurements.

- HYBRID FABRIC AND LEATHERETTE MEMORY FOAM CUSHIONS — Snug, close-fitting earcups provide superior sound isolation, comfort, and the feeling of full haptic feedback from its drivers for full-blown immersion
The important ownership fact is the gap between 50 and 13 hours. The headline maximum excludes the features that justify buying the Pro model. If you use haptics and RGB regularly, charging every few gaming sessions is a realistic expectation. Buyers who want long battery life with every feature enabled should look at a headset with a more forgiving power design, such as one with swappable batteries.
Synapse 4 and software dependence
The headset works without additional activation, but Razer Synapse 4 unlocks its deeper configuration. It controls EQ, THX Spatial Audio, haptic profiles and frequency ranges, haptic gain, RGB, OLED content, game profiles, firmware and device management.
The software is useful because the Kraken V4 Pro has many settings. It is also a source of friction for buyers who expect a console-first accessory that can be fully configured from hardware. Some users have reported problems involving device detection, firmware, Synapse behavior and THX activation in community discussions. Those reports are anecdotal and do not establish a failure rate, but they are a reason to update firmware, retain your return options and avoid assuming that setup will be completely software-free.

How it compares with alternatives
| Headset | Best for | Main trade-off |
|---|---|---|
| Razer Kraken V4 Pro | Haptic immersion, multi-device control and simultaneous game/mobile audio | High price, 397g weight, shorter battery with features enabled |
| SteelSeries Arctis Nova Pro Wireless | ANC, transparency, swappable batteries and premium everyday flexibility | No Kraken-style integrated haptic feedback |

| SteelSeries Arctis Nova 4P Wireless | Lighter PlayStation-oriented wireless use | Fewer flagship features and no haptics |
| Razer Kraken V4 X | Basic wired gaming audio and microphone functionality | No wireless convenience, haptics or hub |
The SteelSeries Arctis Nova Pro Wireless is the stronger choice if active noise cancellation, transparency mode, swappable batteries and high-fidelity flexibility matter more than physical bass feedback. It also supports simultaneous 2.4GHz and Bluetooth audio.
Razer lists the Kraken V4 at $179.99, with a 350g design and up to 70 hours of battery life with lighting off. The same page lists the wired Kraken V4 X at $79.99–$109.99. These models are better value if haptics are not central to your decision.
The SteelSeries Arctis Nova 4P Wireless is listed at 262g and has a 36-hour battery rating, making it a more attractive lightweight option for PlayStation-focused buyers. Its North American launch MSRP was $119.99, though current sale pricing should be checked separately.
Who should buy the Kraken V4 Pro?
- Buy it if explosions, engines and bass-heavy effects feeling physical is a top priority.
- Buy it if you genuinely need PC, console, Bluetooth and wired connectivity in one headset.
- Buy it if simultaneous game and phone audio will be used regularly.
- Buy it if a desktop control hub is more convenient than keyboard shortcuts or software menus.
- Buy it only for haptics if you are otherwise satisfied with a conventional wireless headset.
- Skip it if you want ANC, a lightweight design, maximum battery life with all features enabled or software-free operation.
- Skip it if you mainly play competitive shooters and find vibration distracting.
- Skip it if you want neutral music listening or an audiophile headphone.
Final verdict
The Razer Kraken V4 Pro is a specialized premium headset, not a universal winner. Its haptics make games, films and music feel more physical, and the OLED Control Hub solves real multi-device and control problems. Its microphone, wireless flexibility and EQ options are strong enough to support the price—but they do not alone justify $399.99.
Buy it for the haptics and the hub. If you plan to keep haptics off, dislike heavy headsets or want ANC and swappable batteries, choose a conventional premium headset instead. For everyone else, the Kraken V4 Pro is an impressive immersion upgrade with a punishing price and a battery figure that changes dramatically once its signature features are enabled.
