Windows Errors? Fix Them Before They Spread
Repair common Windows errors and clear accumulated junk for a smoother, more stable PC - no reinstall needed.Free scan · no reinstallOutdated Drivers Are Slowing You Down
One free scan finds every outdated or missing driver and matches the right update for your exact hardware.Free scan · exact hardware matchIf razerconfignative.dll is missing or will not load, repair or reinstall the Razer application that installed it instead of downloading a replacement DLL. The file is associated with Razer Configurator and legacy Razer Synapse software, so the correct repair depends on identifying which Razer component is failing.
What this file actually does
razerconfignative.dll is a third-party application library associated in public file metadata with Razer Configurator, published by Razer Inc. It is also connected with older Razer Synapse installations and configuration components.
As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.
It is not a Windows system DLL. Do not copy it into C:WindowsSystem32 or C:WindowsSysWOW64, and do not assume that a file found in either directory is legitimate.
Public catalogs report one commonly listed build as version 2.46.0.0, x86/32-bit, and approximately 5.67 MB. Those are catalogued details, not a current Razer-certified file manifest. Your installed copy may differ, and the reported architecture does not prove that every Razer installation uses the same build.

There is no reliable evidence that this file is part of Visual C++ 2015. A Visual C++ repair is useful only when the error identifies a Microsoft runtime dependency or the Razer installer reports one.
The exact installation path is not publicly established for every Razer release. The owning program, its executable, and the full path shown in the error are more useful than copying a DLL based on its filename.
Causes and symptoms
| What you see | Most likely cause | Best first action |
|---|---|---|
The program cannot start because razerconfignative.dll is missing |
Damaged, incomplete, or partially removed Razer software | Repair or clean-reinstall the Razer installation |
| “The specified module could not be found” while the DLL exists | A dependency of the DLL is missing | Reinstall Razer, then check the required Visual C++ runtime |
| The error began after antivirus activity | The file was quarantined or blocked | Check Windows Security Protection history |
| Only an older Razer device utility fails | A legacy configuration component is missing | Reinstall the supported legacy Razer package |
| Only one game or launcher reports the error | The game or launcher may be making the call | Repair that game or launcher first |
| The file is in Downloads, Temp, or an unfamiliar user folder | Possible tampering or malware | Do not restore it blindly; scan and reinstall from Razer |
| A 32-bit Razer application fails on 64-bit Windows | Missing 32-bit dependency or incompatible file | Install the x86 runtime if required and use the vendor installer |
| The problem started after a Windows update | A dependency, driver, or application installation may have changed | Repair Razer, then perform Windows and driver checks |
Fix 1: Repair or reinstall the Razer software
This is the highest-confidence fix because the DLL belongs to the application that installed it. Reinstalling the application restores the correct file set and dependencies together.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
First identify the Razer software involved:
- Read the complete error message and note the executable named in it.
- Press
Ctrl+Shift+Escto open Task Manager. - Select Details and look for a Razer executable, device utility, game launcher, or other program that appears when the error occurs.
- Check Settings > Apps > Installed apps on Windows 11, or Settings > Apps > Apps & features on Windows 10.
- Search for
Razer, then record the installed Synapse, configuration, device, or Chroma-related entries.
If the application offers a repair option:
- Open Settings > Apps > Installed apps.
- Select the three-dot menu beside the affected Razer entry.
- Choose Advanced options if available.
- Select Repair.
- Restart Windows and test the Razer application.
If Repair is unavailable or does not work, perform a clean reinstall:
- Back up Synapse profiles or device settings if you need them.
- Close Synapse and other Razer programs from the notification area.
- Open Settings > Apps > Installed apps.
- Search for
Razer. - Uninstall Synapse and related Razer software.
- Restart Windows.
- After the restart, remove leftover Razer or Synapse folders only if they remain and only after uninstalling the software. Razer’s documented cleanup locations include its folders under
C:Program Files,C:Program Files (x86),C:ProgramData, and relevant AppData folders. - Restart Windows again.
- Download the Synapse version supported by the device from Razer Support and install it.
- Restart once more, then test the application that produced the error.
Do not assume the newest Synapse release replaces every legacy Synapse 2 component. If the affected device or utility requires an older configuration package, use the legacy installer supported for that device.
A successful repair means the Razer application opens without the DLL message, the affected device appears in the configuration software, and the error does not return after restarting Windows.

Fix 2: Check whether antivirus quarantined the file
Security software can remove or quarantine a DLL if its contents or behavior trigger a detection. Do not disable antivirus protection just to make the error disappear.
- Open Start and search for Windows Security.
- Select Virus & threat protection.
- Choose Protection history.
- Review recent entries for a Razer folder or
razerconfignative.dll. - Expand the detection and inspect its original path and threat information.
- If the file came from an official Razer installation and its location and digital signature are consistent, follow your security software’s restore or allow instructions.
- If the file is unsigned, is located in Downloads or Temp, or was created by an unknown program, leave it quarantined.
- Uninstall and reinstall the Razer application from Razer Support instead of restoring the isolated file.
- Run a full scan after reinstalling.
To inspect the file’s identity, right-click it, choose Properties, and check the Digital Signatures tab when present. A filename alone does not prove that the file is genuine.
If the file repeatedly reappears outside the Razer installation, run Windows Security > Virus & threat protection > Scan options > Microsoft Defender Offline scan. Save your work first because Windows will restart.
Fix 3: Repair a missing dependency
The message “The specified module could not be found” does not always mean that razerconfignative.dll itself is absent. Windows may have found the named DLL but failed to load another library that it requires.
Reinstall the Razer application first. If the installer or error identifies a Microsoft Visual C++ dependency:
Recommended Free Tools
- Open Microsoft’s documentation for the latest supported Visual C++ Redistributable.
- Download the x86 installer for a 32-bit Razer application.
- Download the x64 installer as well if the affected software includes 64-bit components.
- Run the installer as administrator.
- Choose Repair if the runtime is already installed, or install it if it is missing.
- Restart Windows.
- Reinstall the Razer software if the error remains.
A 64-bit version of Windows can run 32-bit programs, but those programs still need their 32-bit dependencies. Installing only the x64 runtime does not repair every 32-bit application.

If the error names a different Microsoft runtime DLL, use that name to guide the repair. Do not infer the required runtime from razerconfignative.dll alone.
Fix 4: Repair Windows components as a secondary step
Windows repair commands are appropriate when multiple unrelated programs fail, Windows components are damaged, or the problem began with broader system corruption. They do not normally restore a third-party Razer DLL.
First install pending Windows updates:
- Open Settings > Windows Update.
- Select Check for updates.
- Install available updates.
- Restart Windows.
Then run DISM before SFC:
- Open Start and type
Command Prompt. - Right-click Command Prompt and select Run as administrator.
- Run:
DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
- Wait for the operation to complete.
- Run:
sfc /scannow
- Restart Windows and test the Razer application again.
DISM repairs the Windows component store. SFC checks protected Windows files. If both commands complete successfully but the Razer error remains, return to the Razer clean reinstall rather than repeating the commands indefinitely.
If manually checking Windows components, open Settings > Optional features > More Windows features and confirm that required Windows features for the affected application are enabled. Do not enable random features solely because a DLL error appears.
Manually hunting through Windows components and repeating DISM or SFC without knowing what changed can take time without addressing the application that owns the file. Outbyte PC Repair can scan for system issues and show what needs attention, but its full repair functions are optional and reinstalling the Razer application remains the definitive fix for a missing Razer-owned DLL.
Fix 5: Update or reinstall related drivers
A Razer device driver is not the same thing as razerconfignative.dll, but an outdated or partially removed device package can prevent older configuration software from starting correctly.
- Right-click Start and select Device Manager.
- Expand categories such as Keyboards, Mice and other pointing devices, Human Interface Devices, and Universal Serial Bus controllers.
- Locate the affected Razer device.
- Right-click it and choose Update driver.
- Select Search automatically for drivers.
- Restart Windows and test the Razer software.
If the device has a warning icon:
- Right-click the device in Device Manager.
- Select Uninstall device.
- Restart Windows.
- Install the current driver or device package supplied through Razer Support.
- Reconnect the device and test again.
Do not remove an unfamiliar device unless you have identified it as the affected Razer hardware. Outbyte Driver Updater can scan for stale drivers and identify what needs updating, while the full installation is optional; use Razer’s own device package when the problem is specific to a Razer device.

- Right-click the game and choose Properties.
- Select Installed Files.
- Choose Verify integrity of game files.
- Wait for the check to finish.

For another launcher, use its built-in repair, scan, or verify option. If the launcher still reports the Razer DLL, identify whether a Razer overlay, device utility, or startup component is being loaded and repair that software separately.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Do not use regsvr32 as a default fix
regsvr32 is designed for DLLs that expose a registration entry point such as DllRegisterServer. It is not a general DLL repair command, and normal application libraries may not support registration.
Running a command such as this is therefore not a reliable solution:
regsvr32 razerconfignative.dll
It may produce an entry-point error, a permissions error, or an architecture mismatch. Use it only when the software vendor specifically instructs you to register that exact DLL and provides the correct path and command.
Is downloading the DLL separately safe?
No. Random DLL download sites can provide malware, an incompatible build, the wrong architecture, or a file that does not match the rest of the Razer installation. Even a genuine-looking copy may not fix the missing dependency that caused the error.
Use Razer Support for the installer and Microsoft for Windows components and Visual C++ redistributables. Do not place the file in a Windows system folder merely because a download instruction recommends it.

FAQ
Is razerconfignative.dll a Windows file?
No reliable evidence identifies it as a Windows component. It is associated with Razer software and should normally be restored through that software.
Which Razer product installs it?
Public metadata connects it with Razer Configurator and legacy Razer Synapse. The exact package and path can vary, so identify the executable and installed Razer components on the affected PC.
Is the file 32-bit?
A commonly catalogued build is reported as x86/32-bit, but do not assume every copy has that architecture. Use the vendor installer and install the x86 Visual C++ runtime when a 32-bit Razer application needs it.
