The earbuds launched October 13, 2026, at a reported $119.99 in select markets. Beneath the novelty, they remain a serious gaming set with 2.4 GHz wireless, Bluetooth 5.3 and support for PC, PlayStation 5, mobile devices and Steam Deck.
A Kuromi head is the charging case
The unusual part is structural, not just cosmetic. Instead of putting character artwork on a conventional charging case, Razer shaped the case like Kuromi’s head. Her hood-covered ears and skull-bow motif are modeled in three dimensions, while the case LED sits at the widow’s-peak area. USB-C charging connects at the bottom.

Razer describes the design as a lilac-and-black Kuromi silhouette, with the character’s skull emblem also detailed on each earbud stem. That makes the product read as a collectible even when the earbuds are sitting in their case.
What the earbuds actually do
Two wireless modes
The HyperSpeed Case doubles as both the charging case and the 2.4 GHz wireless receiver. Razer’s HyperSpeed connection is intended for low-latency gaming, while Bluetooth 5.3 handles everyday listening on compatible devices. SmartSwitch lets you move between the two connection types without treating the case as a display piece only.

Platforms and connection caveats
Razer lists mobile devices, PC, PlayStation 5 and Steam Deck as compatible platforms. The practical limitation is that compatibility depends on the connection method: 2.4 GHz operation generally uses the included HyperSpeed receiver, while Bluetooth availability depends on the device and its supported profiles. Check the platform-specific setup and receiver requirements before buying for a particular console or handheld.
Audio, controls and protection
- THX Spatial Audio with immersive 7.1.4 surround sound is listed for PC.
- Touch controls handle playback and other supported commands.
- The case LED communicates charging, pairing and alert states.
- IPX4 water resistance is designed for sweat, rain and everyday spills, but it is not a waterproof rating for submersion.
Battery life and charging
Razer rates the system for up to 35 hours in total: up to 10 hours from the earbuds and another 25 hours from the charging case. That is a combined rating, not 35 hours of continuous earbud playback on one charge. USB-C passthrough allows the earbuds to remain usable while the case itself is charging.

Price, launch date and where to look
GamesRadar+ reported a launch price of $119.99, which is $20 more than the plain Hammerhead V3 X HyperSpeed earbuds. That premium pays for the licensed Kuromi treatment and the sculpted case; the core gaming feature set remains the reason to choose this model over a character-free alternative.

Is the extra $20 worth it?
Choose it if the case is the point
The Kuromi Edition makes sense for fans who want a visibly themed desk or travel setup. The three-dimensional case is a much bigger design statement than a printed logo, and the earbuds still provide the 2.4 GHz mode, Bluetooth 5.3, touch controls and platform coverage expected from gaming audio.
Choose the plain model if function comes first
If you will keep the earbuds in a bag and rarely display the case, the reported $20 difference buys no stated increase in battery capacity, wireless standards, water resistance or audio features. The standard version is the more restrained choice when character design is not part of the value.

What to check before ordering
- Confirm that your country is included in the current Razer.com or RazerStore listing.
- For PS5 or Steam Deck, verify whether your setup uses the supplied 2.4 GHz receiver or Bluetooth and whether that method suits your device.
- Plan around the 10-hour earbud rating, using the case for the remaining charge rather than expecting 35 hours from the buds alone.
- Treat IPX4 as splash and sweat protection, not permission to submerge or swim with them.
Why the absurdity works
“Decapitated Kuromi” sounds like a shock headline because the case literally isolates and enlarges her head. Yet the joke works because the design does not replace the product’s purpose. The same sculpted object is a receiver, charger and status display, while the earbuds provide a low-latency gaming link and a conventional Bluetooth mode. It is an unusually loud piece of character hardware that still answers practical gaming needs.
