On the evidence available, Bellion is the strongest named shadow soldier, listed as Grand Marshal. Beru and Igris form the next tier as Marshal shadows, while Tusk is best understood as a specialist whose magic can change a matchup even though his published grade is inconsistent across reference sources.
There is no official numeric power score for Jinwoo’s shadows. The order below is therefore a qualitative judgment based on listed rank, demonstrated combat standing, versatility and the point in the story being compared.

How this Solo Leveling ranking works
“Strongest” can mean several different things in Solo Leveling. A formal shadow grade is one signal, but it is not a complete battle result. A soldier can be more useful in a particular encounter because of range, magic, support abilities or matchup advantage without being the superior all-purpose fighter.

- Listed rank: the grade assigned in the available shadow tables or character references.
- Combat standing: what the story and reference descriptions establish about a shadow’s ability to fight high-level opponents.
- Versatility: whether the shadow contributes only direct damage or also brings unusual tools, control or support.
- Story point: whether the comparison is being made during the anime’s currently covered material, the completed original story, or later developments.
Those axes explain why Beru versus Igris cannot be reduced to a permanent one-two score, and why Tusk’s battlefield value should not be dismissed simply because his published grade is disputed.

The strongest shadow soldiers at a glance
| Rank | Shadow | Listed grade in the consulted material | What supports the placement | Main qualification |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Bellion | Grand Marshal | Placed at the top of the named-shadow table; highest listed grade. | No official numerical power rating is published. |
| 2 | Beru | Marshal | Marshal-grade shadow of the Ant King; described as exceptionally capable and adaptable. | Reference material says Bellion surpasses him and Igris rivals him; the exact gap depends on the comparison point. |
| 3 | Igris | Marshal | Also listed as Marshal and established as a top-tier combat shadow. | The available evidence does not prove that he is always weaker than Beru. |
| 4 | Tusk | Conflicting: General Grade in one description, Marshal in a table | Distinct magical and shamanistic toolkit gives him tactical value. | Verify the relevant primary-story chapter before treating either label as definitive. |
1. Bellion — the strongest named shadow
Bellion is the clearest number-one choice in a full-series ranking. The named-shadow table lists him as Grand Marshal, the top grade shown in that reference, while Beru and Igris are listed one level below as Marshal. That formal distinction is the strongest comparative evidence available for placing Bellion first.
The important wording is “listed as,” not “officially scored.” The series does not provide a published universal combat number that proves a precise percentage advantage. Bellion’s position is a rank-based conclusion supported by the reference table, not a claim that every possible matchup has been measured.
Why Bellion sits above Beru and Igris
The consulted Beru reference explicitly places Beru below Bellion and describes Igris as a rival to Beru. Combined with Bellion’s Grand Marshal listing, that gives a consistent broad order: Bellion at the top, with Beru and Igris competing beneath him. It also avoids a common mistake—treating every high-level shadow as interchangeable because they all appear in Jinwoo’s elite force.
What anime-only readers should know
The official anime site identifies season two as Arise from the Shadow and lists episode 19 as “The 10th S-rank Hunter.” Those labels identify the adaptation’s current naming and episode context; they do not publish a comparative shadow ranking. Viewers who have only followed the listed anime episodes may not yet have the same evidence available to readers of the completed story. Bellion’s first-place placement here is therefore a full-series conclusion, not an anime-season power statement.

2. Beru — the leading all-purpose challenger
Beru is the strongest alternative to Bellion in the available material. His character reference identifies him as the shadow of the Ant King, assigns him Marshal grade, and describes him as a formidable, adaptable combatant. The same source places him below Bellion while treating Igris as his rival.
What makes Beru difficult to rank below Igris
Beru’s case is not based on a single statistic. It rests on his ability to perform as a high-end combatant and adjust to changing circumstances. That adaptability matters in a series where an encounter can involve unfamiliar abilities, different ranges and rapidly changing objectives. A shadow who can respond to those changes may outperform a nominally similar opponent in one battle and not another.
For that reason, “Beru is second” should be read as the most useful overall ordering, not an official declaration that Beru wins every duel against Igris. If the comparison is tied to a particular story point or feat set, a reader can reasonably place the two in the opposite order while still accepting the same tier.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteBeru’s place in the hierarchy
Beru belongs in the Marshal tier with Igris, clearly above Tusk in a general-purpose ranking when the latter’s grade and role are considered together. He is not presented as a measurable equal to Bellion: the available description says Bellion surpasses him. The result is a practical hierarchy rather than a numerical ladder—Bellion first, Beru among the next group, then the remaining specialist comparisons.

3. Igris — Marshal-grade rival to Beru
Igris is also listed as Marshal, which places him in the same formal tier as Beru. That shared grade is important: it establishes that the gap between them is not the same kind of grade difference as the gap between a Marshal and Bellion’s listed Grand Marshal status.
Why Igris can be ranked second instead
The available shadow table confirms Igris’s high rank but does not settle an absolute Beru-versus-Igris order. The Beru reference calls Igris a rival, and no official numeric score overrides that wording. A ranking that puts Igris second is therefore defensible when it prioritizes a specific set of combat demonstrations, a chosen point in the story or a reader’s definition of consistency.
The safest conclusion is that Beru and Igris occupy the same leading Marshal conversation. Calling one “always stronger” goes beyond what the cited material establishes. Their placement should be explained with the criteria being used rather than presented as settled canon.
How to compare Beru and Igris fairly
- Fix the story point. Do not combine anime-only evidence with later manhwa or novel developments without warning.
- Separate rank from performance. Both are listed as Marshal, so grade alone cannot decide the matchup.
- Define the win condition. A duel, a mission requiring adaptability or a battle needing specific utility can produce different answers.
- State uncertainty. If the evidence supports a close contest, say so instead of inventing a permanent score.
4. Tusk — the magical specialist
Tusk is the most difficult of the four to place with a single label. His character reference describes him in General Grade prose, while the named-shadow table labels him Marshal. Those statements conflict, and neither should be silently treated as an uncontested official grade. The primary story chapter or volume would need to be checked before making a definitive claim.

What is clear about Tusk
His role is easier to establish than his grade. Tusk brings a magical and shamanistic toolkit that distinguishes him from the straightforward high-tier comparison between Beru and Igris. That gives him tactical value: in a battle where magical reach, control or specialized utility matters, Tusk may contribute more than a simple overall ranking suggests.
That advantage does not automatically make him stronger than the Marshal shadows. Versatility is a separate axis from raw combat standing. Tusk can be the right choice for a particular objective while still ranking fourth in an all-purpose list.
How to read the conflicting rank labels
- Use “Tusk is the magical specialist” as the stable description.
- Report the disagreement openly rather than choosing one grade without qualification.
- Do not convert the General-versus-Marshal discrepancy into a fabricated power gap.
- When precision matters, consult the relevant primary-story text instead of relying on a fan-maintained table.
Is Beru stronger than Igris?
There is no official numeric answer in the available material. Beru has the clearest argument for a second-place overall ranking because his reference describes exceptional combat ability and adaptability, says Bellion surpasses him and identifies Igris as a rival. Igris has an equally important counterpoint: he is also Marshal-grade, and the shadow table does not establish that he is permanently below Beru.
So the useful answer is conditional:
- Overall full-series list: place Beru just ahead of Igris, with a narrow gap.
- Specific story point or feat set: Igris can reasonably be placed ahead if that comparison favors his demonstrated performance.
- Official canon score: none is supplied, so any exact margin would be invented.
Where does Tusk rank among Jinwoo’s shadows?
On a broad all-purpose list, Tusk sits behind Bellion, Beru and Igris because the available evidence gives those three the stronger high-tier comparison. Tusk’s magic prevents that placement from being a statement that he is useless or incapable of defeating a higher-ranked shadow in every circumstance. It means that the list is measuring general standing, not the best specialist for every mission.

The grade conflict also makes Tusk a poor subject for absolute claims. One reference calls him General Grade in prose and another table calls him Marshal. Until the underlying story text is checked, the responsible wording is “Tusk’s rank label is disputed, while his magical role is clear.”
Anime-only versus completed-story rankings
Adaptation coverage changes what a reader can fairly compare. The official anime information currently identifies the second season as Arise from the Shadow and lists episode 19, “The 10th S-rank Hunter.” That is useful for locating the anime’s position, but it is not evidence that the anime has shown every later shadow or settled their final order.
Anime-only readers should treat this article as a spoiler-marked guide to the completed original storyline. Readers using the manhwa or the Korean web-novel source have a broader evidence base, but they should still identify which version and story point they mean. A scene omitted, rearranged or not yet animated cannot be used to claim that the adaptation has already established the full-series ranking.
The Tool Desk
Outbyte PC Repair FREERepair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Outbyte Driver Updater FREEFix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Why there is no official “power level” number
No named statistic or official numerical ranking surfaced for these shadows. That absence matters because it limits what a responsible article can promise. A number such as “Bellion is twice as strong” would create false precision, and a tier list that treats grades as exact measurements would blur the difference between rank, feats and utility.
The ranking is therefore best used as a reader’s map:
- Bellion: top listed grade and strongest overall pick.
- Beru and Igris: close Marshal contenders whose order depends on story point and criteria.
- Tusk: magical specialist with a conflicting published grade and matchup-dependent value.
Final verdict
For a spoiler-aware, full-series answer to “Who is Jinwoo’s strongest shadow?”, choose Bellion. For the next position, choose Beru narrowly, while acknowledging Igris as his Marshal-tier rival rather than an unquestionably weaker soldier. Place Tusk fourth in a general ranking, but keep his magical and shamanistic utility in view—and do not state his grade as settled while the reference labels conflict.
