REANIMAL is a horror adventure from Tarsier Studios, the team behind Little Nightmares and Little Nightmares II. It follows a brother and sister searching for missing friends and trying to escape a hostile island. The game launched on February 13, 2026, for Nintendo Switch 2, PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
What is REANIMAL?
REANIMAL is a new game, not a sequel to Little Nightmares. Tarsier Studios developed it, and THQ Nordic published it. Its story follows two siblings as they explore a dangerous island in search of their friends. The official description presents its storytelling as minimalist and open to interpretation.

Exploration shifts between land and boat, combining stealth, environmental puzzles and cinematic platforming. A shared, directed camera frames the siblings together and is designed to add claustrophobia and tension. These are publisher descriptions of the game’s premise and features, rather than a hands-on assessment.
Can you play REANIMAL solo or in co-op?
Yes. The official game site describes play alone, in local co-op or online co-op. Steam additionally lists single-player, online co-op, shared/split-screen co-op and cross-platform multiplayer. Those listings establish that cross-platform multiplayer is advertised, but do not by themselves explain which platform combinations work or how to set them up; check the current store information for the platforms you and your co-op partner use.

Local co-op on Nintendo Switch 2
A publisher patch announcement dated April 16, 2026, says Switch 2 local couch co-op supports one Joy-Con per player. Because this feature is version-sensitive, check the latest update notes if you are setting up a session on a later build.
Other platform features
The same April 2026 announcement says PC supports ultrawide screens, HDR is supported on PC, PS5 and Xbox, and the game is Steam Deck verified. It also notes general crash, audio and connectivity fixes. Later updates may change compatibility or support.

Which REANIMAL editions and DLC are available?
The official game site lists a Standard Edition, The Prisoner DLC, a Season Pass, a Deluxe Edition and a Collector’s Edition. The official site describes The Prisoner as the first of three planned REANIMAL DLCs. Its story features The Soldier and the Prisoner in a war-ravaged setting. The site information cited here does not establish release dates, prices or what is included in any edition, so confirm those details on the current store page before purchasing.

Match the platform to the people you plan to play with, and check whether you want a physical or digital copy. For an edition or DLC purchase, verify its contents and regional availability on the seller’s live listing. No one edition is automatically the right choice for every player.
