There is no single PC specification for “Recomp Store ports.” RecompStore is a homebrew app store for jailbroken PS5 consoles, while RecompLauncher is the separate PC-facing launcher for native ports on Windows, Linux, and macOS. Each port sets its own requirements, so you must check its README for graphics API and driver support, CPU instruction sets, memory, storage, operating system, and accepted game files before installing or upgrading hardware.
The documented examples range from older graphics hardware that can meet a specific Direct3D 12, Vulkan, or Metal requirement to projects that require an AVX-capable processor, 8 GB of RAM, and up to 10 GiB of disk space. The safest way to judge a computer is by the exact port, not by the original console the game came from.

Is Recomp Store a PC application?
Not in the sense many readers expect. The RecompStore project describes itself as “a homebrew app store for jailbroken PS5” consoles in its README. Its official site describes RecompLauncher as a way to run console games rebuilt natively for Windows, Linux, and Mac by their developers.
That distinction changes the hardware question. A PC is optional for connecting to the PS5-oriented store, but playing a native recompilation on a computer means using RecompLauncher and the individual port project. There is therefore no “Recomp Store PC minimum” that applies to every title.

What is the minimum PC hardware for RecompLauncher ports?
The minimum is whatever the particular port documents. A useful checklist has five parts: graphics API and driver feature level, CPU instruction-set support, RAM, free storage, and operating-system version. You also need the game files and, for some projects, a separate extraction process.
Graphics API and driver support
“Gaming capable” is not a sufficient description. A port may require a GPU driver exposing a specific Direct3D feature level, Vulkan version, or Metal capability. If the installed driver lacks that feature, the program can fail before resolution or frame-rate settings matter.
Zelda 64: Recompiled requires a GPU supporting Direct3D 12.0 with Shader Model 6, Vulkan 1.2, or Metal Argument Buffers Tier 2. Its README lists GeForce GT 630, Radeon HD 7750, and Intel HD 510 as the oldest example GPUs. Those are examples for that project, not a universal recommendation for every recompilation.
Burnout 3 PC specifies a Vulkan 1.3 graphics driver on 64-bit Windows 10 or 11. The relevant requirement is the driver’s Vulkan support, not merely the brand or age of the graphics card.
Dusklight accepts D3D12, Vulkan 1.1 or newer, or Metal. D3D11 and Android OpenGL ES are described as best-effort paths that may not provide full accuracy or performance, so a program launching through an older API does not mean it is fully supported.
CPU instruction sets
Ports can require processor instructions that are independent of core count and clock speed. Zelda 64: Recompiled specifies an x86-64 processor with SSE4.1. Unleashed Recompiled requires an AVX-capable CPU. Burnout 3 PC supplies an SSE4 executable path for processors without AVX2, but that exception is specific to that project.

Check the exact CPU requirement before assuming that a newer-looking or faster processor will work. A machine can have enough cores and memory yet fail because its processor does not expose the instruction set selected by the executable.
RAM and storage
Memory and disk figures are title-specific. Unleashed Recompiled documents 8 GB of RAM and 6 GiB of storage without downloadable content or 10 GiB with DLC. Those figures should not be turned into a catalog-wide minimum: other projects may publish different numbers or omit a universal floor.
Reserve room for the installed port, its extracted assets, updates, and any source files you retain. A requirement expressed in GiB describes capacity, not a promise that the program will perform well on a particular drive.
Operating system
Platform support varies by title. Unleashed Recompiled lists Windows 10 version 1909 or a modern Linux distribution. Burnout 3 PC requires 64-bit Windows 10 or 11. Other projects publish separate graphics backends for Linux or macOS, so the same computer may be supported on one operating system and unsupported on another.

The table is a compatibility snapshot, not a performance ranking. A listed legacy GPU can satisfy one project’s API floor while lacking the feature level, driver, or memory needed by another.

Do I need Vulkan or DirectX 12?
You need whichever API the selected port supports, at the version it specifies. Vulkan 1.1, Vulkan 1.2, and Vulkan 1.3 are not interchangeable labels, and “DirectX 12” should be read alongside the required Shader Model or feature level.
- Vulkan 1.3: Burnout 3 PC explicitly requires a Vulkan 1.3 graphics driver.
- Vulkan 1.2 or D3D12/Shader Model 6: Zelda 64: Recompiled and Unleashed Recompiled list these as supported paths.
- Metal: Zelda 64: Recompiled requires Metal Argument Buffers Tier 2; Dusklight lists Metal; Skate 3 Recomp uses Vulkan through MoltenVK on macOS.
- Fallback APIs: Dusklight’s D3D11 and Android OpenGL ES paths are best-effort, so they should not be treated as equivalent to its primary APIs.
Before buying a graphics card, identify the exact API version in the port README and verify that the current driver exposes it. Driver updates can matter as much as the silicon, particularly for Vulkan feature support.
How can I check whether my PC meets a specific port’s requirements?
Use this order so you do not spend money on a component that cannot solve the real incompatibility.
- Choose the exact port. RecompLauncher is a catalog and installer; the project repository is the authority for that title’s requirements.
- Record your operating system and edition. Note whether you are on 64-bit Windows, Linux, or macOS and compare it with the project’s supported platforms and minimum versions.
- Verify the graphics API. Check the GPU model and installed driver for the required Direct3D feature level, Vulkan version, or Metal capability. Do not substitute a generic DirectX or Vulkan label for the stated version.
- Verify CPU instructions. Look for SSE4.1, AVX, AVX2, or another instruction set named by the README. If a project supplies a fallback executable, follow its documented launch path rather than assuming every build has that fallback.
- Check RAM and free disk space. Compare against the title’s own figures and include DLC or extracted assets where the documentation gives separate totals.
- Prepare the required game files. Confirm the accepted dump, disc image, ROM, region, or version before downloading or copying anything.
- Install only after the checks pass. If a launcher reports an incompatibility, return to the project README rather than lowering settings blindly; an unsupported API or CPU instruction cannot be repaired by changing resolution.
How much RAM and storage should I plan for?
Use published per-port numbers, not a blanket target. Unleashed Recompiled is the clearest documented example: 8 GB of RAM, 6 GiB without DLC, and 10 GiB with DLC. The cited requirements for Zelda 64: Recompiled, Burnout 3 PC, Dusklight, and Skate 3 Recomp do not provide comparable universal RAM or storage figures.
That does not make those figures irrelevant; it means you must read each project’s release notes and installation instructions. Keep additional free space for the original dump, temporary extraction files, shader or cache data, and updates when the project instructs you to create them.
Do I need an Xbox 360 hard-drive adapter?
Usually not for running a port, but it can be part of obtaining the source files for an Xbox 360 project. The Unleashed Recompiled documentation describes an Xbox 360 storage device and either a transfer cable or a compatible SATA-to-USB adapter as possible tools in the file-dump workflow.

Those accessories are source-extraction equipment, not general RecompLauncher hardware. If you already have a legally obtained dump in the format the project accepts, you do not add an adapter requirement merely because the original game came from Xbox 360. Follow the title’s extraction instructions and check the supported storage-device format before purchasing a cable.
What game files do these ports require?
RecompLauncher and the individual projects do not supply copyrighted game content. You must provide a legally obtained disc image, ROM, dump, or other assets in the format, region, and version that the port accepts; the specific README explains the expected files.
File compatibility can be as important as hardware. A correct GPU and CPU will not make an unsupported region, revision, archive layout, or incomplete dump load. Keep the original files unchanged until the project’s extraction or conversion steps confirm that the required assets were created.

The driver exposes the wrong API
A card can run modern games yet lack the exact Vulkan version or D3D12 feature level required by a recompilation. Update the vendor driver, verify the reported API version, and compare it with the README’s wording rather than relying on the card’s marketing name.

The CPU lacks the required instruction set
Missing SSE4.1, AVX, or AVX2 can stop an executable before it renders anything. Use a documented fallback build when one exists, such as Burnout 3 PC’s SSE4 path, and do not assume that more cores compensate for missing instructions.
The operating system is outside the supported range
Check 64-bit status and minimum versions. Burnout 3 PC’s requirement is Windows 10 or 11 64-bit, while Unleashed Recompiled specifies Windows 10 version 1909 or a modern Linux distribution; those statements do not automatically cover every Windows or Linux release.

The source files are wrong or incomplete
Re-dump or re-extract from an accepted source when the project reports missing assets, an invalid hash, or an unsupported revision. Hardware upgrades cannot correct a bad dump.
The fallback renderer is experimental
Dusklight labels D3D11 and Android OpenGL ES as best-effort, with possible accuracy or performance limitations. A launch through such a path is not evidence that the project has full support on that hardware.
How should I compare two ports or two PCs?
Compare the same seven fields on both sides: graphics API and driver version, CPU instruction set, RAM, storage, operating system, accepted source-file format or region, and any documented CPU- or GPU-heavy behavior. Do not use the original console generation as a proxy for PC requirements; independently maintained ports can make very different technical choices.

That count is a dated inventory, not a promise that every project is equally mature, complete, or playable. Treat each project’s repository and release notes as the current authority for its own build.
What should I verify before upgrading hardware?
- Write down the exact port and release you intend to use.
- Confirm the required API version and driver feature level.
- Confirm SSE4.1, AVX, AVX2, or other CPU instructions.
- Check the project’s RAM and storage figures, including DLC totals.
- Confirm 64-bit operating-system support and the minimum OS version.
- Verify the accepted dump, ROM, disc image, region, and revision.
- Separate runtime requirements from optional source-extraction tools.
This process prevents the most common mistake: buying a generally “better” component that still misses the one API, instruction set, OS version, or game-file condition the port actually requires.

Can integrated graphics run a recompilation port?
It depends on the API feature level, not simply on whether the GPU is integrated. Intel HD 510 is listed as an oldest example for Zelda 64: Recompiled, but that does not establish support for other ports; check the selected project’s exact Vulkan, D3D12, or Metal requirement.
Is Vulkan 1.3 automatically backward-compatible with every port that asks for Vulkan 1.2?
A driver exposing Vulkan 1.3 generally reports the earlier core version as well, but extensions, operating-system support, and project-specific bugs can still matter. Confirm the port’s supported platform and driver notes instead of treating the version number alone as a guarantee.
Does RecompLauncher download the original game ROM or disc image?
No. The launcher and port projects do not distribute copyrighted game content. You must supply a legally obtained dump or other accepted assets and follow the project’s instructions for region, revision, and extraction.
Will a newer operating system always work if the hardware is compatible?
Not necessarily. Projects publish tested support ranges such as 64-bit Windows 10 or 11, Windows 10 version 1909, or a modern Linux distribution; an unlisted OS can fail because of drivers, libraries, or packaging even when the CPU and GPU meet the hardware floor.
