The quest unlocks after The Gilded Cage in Chapter 4. Use the active list in your satchel to track what you need, and collect each set only after its request is active: players report that some final orchids may not appear beforehand.
How to start Algernon Wasp’s quest
After completing The Gilded Cage in Chapter 4, look for Algernon Wasp at the garden house north of Saint Denis. He is marked as a Stranger. Speak to him to receive the first request. The chain has five requests; after each one, return to Algernon and hand in the items to unlock the next list. Your current Exotic Collector’s List is in the satchel under Documents. The requirements below are for Story Mode. Collect the items on the active request, then return to Algernon before starting the next set.

Where to find the birds and alligator eggs
Egret and heron plumes
Search the west or northwest side of Bayou Nwa, especially near the shoreline, for Snowy, Little, and Reddish Egrets and Herons. The guides recommend searching in daylight, around noon in particular. Kill and skin each bird to collect its plume. Herons are reported in the same broad area, and collecting 20 may require returning after birds respawn. PCGamesN and PowerPyx both describe these habitats.
Spoonbill plumes
Look around the Kamassa River during the day. The required 30 plumes can mean multiple visits while bird spawns refresh; skin the birds to collect plumes.
Alligator eggs
Check nests near swamps and water, including around Shady Belle. A nest can hold several eggs, but adult alligators may be nearby, so approach cautiously.

- Lady of the Night: Trees and shoreline across north Bayou Nwa.
- Lady Slipper: Big Valley, especially northwest of Strawberry.
- Moccasin: West of Van Horn Trading Post, near the stream below Elysian Pool.
- Acuna’s Star: Trees east of Lagras and nearby islands.
- Cigar: East Bayou Nwa, north toward Bluewater Marsh.
- Ghost: Small islands northeast of Shady Belle.
- Rat Tail: Around Lagras lake, especially its northern end near Bluewater Marsh.
- Spider: West of Bayou Nwa and east of the Kamassa River, near egret and heron habitat.
- Night Scented: Trees southeast of Braithwaite Manor toward Shady Belle.
- Dragon’s Mouth: Around O’Creagh’s Run in Grizzlies East.
- Sparrow Egg: Around Annesburg and Roanoke Valley, especially north of Annesburg.
- Queen’s: Small land patches around Lagras lake.
- Clam Shell: Shoreline between Shady Belle and Caliga Hall.
What to do if an orchid is missing
Players have reported arriving at an orchid location before the matching request is active and finding the final required plant unavailable. This is a reported explanation, not a confirmed cause of every missing orchid. Check your satchel’s active Exotic Collector’s List, finish and turn in the current request if needed, then revisit the location. Plan around the difference between plants and birds
- Plants: Follow the broad search areas and use Eagle Eye to spot fixed pickups. Confirm the corresponding request is active before searching for a last-needed orchid.
- Birds: Hunt in the listed daytime habitats and return later if the required plume count exceeds the birds available on one visit.
- Route planning: No single universally best route is established by the location guides. Prioritize the active list and mark locations to avoid unnecessary repeat trips.
Completion and rewards
After turning in the fifth request, return to Algernon. The PowerPyx walkthrough reports $760 in total cash along with a hat and revolver; the named rewards are the Exotic Hat and Algernon’s Revolver. Completing the chain also counts toward the Exotics entry on the 100% completion checklist. PowerPyx’s walkthrough lists the cash total, while Gamers.Wiki’s 2026 overview identifies the named rewards.
