Assassin’s Creed Destiny appears to have been a cancelled prototype for a console and PC Assassin’s Creed game set in Qin-era China. Screenshots and video clips taken from developers’ online portfolios show a palace-siege scenario, stealth assassinations, parkour, a leap of faith and experimental combat systems. Ubisoft and Tencent never officially announced the project, so “Destiny” should be treated as a reported codename rather than a confirmed final title.
What is Assassin’s Creed Destiny?
Destiny is the reported working title of an unreleased Assassin’s Creed project led by TiMi Studio Group, the Tencent subsidiary also associated with the mobile game Assassin’s Creed Jade. The material surfaced through portfolios belonging to developers who worked on the project. MP1st reported that most of the footage dates from a February 2025 prototype.

That provenance confirms that development work existed, but it does not establish a final release plan, complete feature set or finished story. The clips are evidence of experiments in art direction, animation and systems—not a review build or proof that the project reached full production.
What do the first screenshots and gameplay clips show?
The footage presents a female assassin trying to reach a mysterious artifact inside a sacred palace while Xiang Yu and his troops lay siege to it. Xiang Yu, a historical warlord, also appears in an early boss-fight sequence. These scenes describe the prototype material and should not be read as a confirmed synopsis for a finished game.

Stealth, parkour and traversal
- Stealth kills and traditional Assassin’s Creed takedowns are visible.
- The protagonist uses parkour to move through the palace environment.
- A leap of faith appears in the clips, indicating that the series’ signature traversal was being prototyped.
- A separate sequence shows a male character performing parkour takedowns. That could point to a planned choice of protagonist gender, but it could also be a temporary animation test; the footage does not confirm a character-selection system or multiple campaigns.
Experimental weapons and interface
One placeholder test sequence features a spinning, umbrella-like weapon. The interface reportedly includes ink-brush-style ability icons, a health bar and a yin-yang emblem. Because these elements come from an early prototype, they may represent concepts that would have been revised or removed before release.
Where and when was Destiny set?
MP1st placed the project in China around 206 BCE, at the end of the Qin period. That date is roughly nine years after the reported 215 BCE setting of Assassin’s Creed Jade. The palace siege and Xiang Yu material fit a period of political and military upheaval, but the footage does not establish how closely the game would have followed documented events.

TiMi Studio Group was reportedly the lead developer. Its connection to Jade is one reason the two projects are often confused, but the reported dates, platforms and development statuses are different.
Is Assassin’s Creed Destiny the same game as Assassin’s Creed Jade?
No. Destiny was reportedly planned for consoles and PC, while Jade is a separate mobile project set earlier in the Qin period. Jade was still reported to be in development, whereas Destiny’s prototype appears to have been cancelled.
| Project | Reported setting | Platform | Status | Evidence |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Assassin’s Creed Destiny | China, around 206 BCE | Console and PC | Cancelled prototype | Developer-portfolio screenshots and clips |
| Assassin’s Creed Jade | China, around 215 BCE | Mobile | Reportedly still in development | Separate Ubisoft–Tencent project |
| Assassin’s Creed Chronicles: China | China, Ming-era setting | Released platforms | Released 2015-era 2.5D spin-off | Completed commercial game |
Destiny is also unrelated to the 2022 cosmetic crossover between Assassin’s Creed Valhalla and Destiny 2. The shared word “Destiny” in that event does not refer to this cancelled project.
Was Assassin’s Creed Destiny cancelled?
Reports indicate that Destiny was cancelled not long after the February 2025 prototype material. Neither Ubisoft nor Tencent has publicly confirmed the project by name or issued a definitive cancellation explanation, so its status comes from reporting on the leaked development material rather than an official announcement.

Why was Assassin’s Creed Destiny cancelled?
No public statement identifies a single reason. MP1st connected the timing with TiMi’s restructuring into four teams, announced about a month before the reported prototype, and said Destiny ended not long afterward. VGC also linked the period to Tencent’s 2024 strategic move away from Western franchises, which it described as delivering lower margins than domestic Chinese releases. Those are reported circumstances and possible factors, not confirmed causation.
Jean Guesdon offered the following on-record comment about an unnamed early project: “While we recently chose to pivot away from an early project, the lessons from that work are already helping shape our approach going forward. What matters most to us is giving each project the time it deserves and releasing them when they are ready.” The statement does not identify Destiny, so it cannot be treated as an official cancellation notice for this game.
How much can the leaked footage tell us?
The clips are useful for identifying the project’s intended time period, visual language and early gameplay experiments. They cannot prove that every shown weapon, interface element or character concept would have survived development. A prototype can contain placeholder assets, animation tests and discarded mechanics, and there is no evidence that Destiny reached a shippable build.
For that reason, descriptions such as “a palace mission involving Xiang Yu” should be qualified as reported prototype content. They are not confirmation of a final campaign, launch platform list, release date or protagonist roster.
What released game is the closest comparison?
The most relevant released comparison is Assassin’s Creed Chronicles: China, a 2015-era 2.5D spin-off set in China. It is a finished game and therefore a practical reference for a China-based Assassin’s Creed setting, but it is not Destiny and does not preserve Destiny’s reported story, systems or technology.
There is currently no confirmed Destiny edition, release date, preorder, merchandise line or official product page. Any listing that presents those items as established should be treated skeptically unless Ubisoft or Tencent announces them directly.

What should fans take away from the report?
Destiny was apparently an ambitious China-set Assassin’s Creed experiment that produced recognizable series gameplay before being abandoned. The available material supports the existence of a prototype and its broad Qin-era concept, but not the idea that a finished game was close to launch. Jade remains a separate mobile project, and the released Chronicles: China remains the only completed game among these China-focused comparisons.
Frequently Asked Questions
Could the female and male characters indicate two playable assassins?
The footage does not answer that. The male parkour sequence could represent a second protagonist, a player-choice test or simply an animation demonstration, and no confirmed character-selection feature has been reported.
Does the nine-year gap make Destiny a sequel to Assassin’s Creed Jade?
No narrative connection has been established. Sharing a broad Qin-era setting and a reported TiMi connection is not evidence that one game continues the other’s story.
Can fans buy or download an Assassin’s Creed Destiny build?
There is no confirmed public release, retail edition or authorized download. Portfolio clips are not evidence of a consumer build, and purported copies should not be treated as official products.
Why does Xiang Yu appear in the leaked material?
The prototype depicts him as a historical warlord involved in the palace siege and an early boss encounter. His exact role, characterization and place in a final plot were never confirmed.
