The next mainline Resident Evil game is reportedly targeting 2029, but Capcom has not announced that date. ComicBook.com reported on February 13, 2026, that insider Dusk Golem (AestheticGamer) said the game is “right now aiming for a 2029 release date” and could slip to 2030 or even 2031. The report also says the next entry may not be called Resident Evil 10.
What the 2029 report actually says
The claim comes from a February 13, 2026 post by Dusk Golem, as reported by ComicBook.com. In the wording reproduced by PSX Extreme, the insider said the game was “right now aiming for a 2029 release date, but could be delayed to 2030, 2031 at worst, up to the whims of game dev.” This is an attributed insider claim, not a release date announced by Capcom.

That distinction matters: “aiming for” describes a reported target, not a firm commitment. The same report leaves room for development delays and says the eventual game may use a different title, so “Resident Evil 10” is a convenient label rather than a confirmed product name.
What Capcom has confirmed
Capcom’s September 16, 2025 announcement identifies Resident Evil Requiem as the ninth main installment. It lists a February 27, 2026 release date and PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2 and PC as platforms. Those details establish the official franchise context; they do not confirm a tenth game or its release window. Capcom’s announcement also reported cumulative Resident Evil game sales of more than 174 million units as of June 30, 2025. That is a franchise-wide total, not a sales forecast for the rumored game.

Why a 2029 target is not a confirmed schedule
Capcom producer Masachika Kawata has discussed the difficulty of producing a new Resident Evil entry every year. In an interview covered by PC Gamer on July 26, 2026, Kawata said that “producing a new entry in the Resident Evil series every year would be quite an undertaking and a difficult task.” He also discussed remakes as part of the company’s broader release strategy.
Those remarks offer general context about the series’ cadence, not confirmation of Dusk Golem’s reported target. They do not establish the next game’s development status or explain whether it will arrive in 2029, 2030, or later.
