No Resident Evil 5 remake is reportedly in development right now, according to insider Dusk Golem, as relayed by IG News on September 30, 2026. The same report says a remake could happen eventually, but Dusk Golem does not expect remakes of Resident Evil 5 or Resident Evil 6 to be released within at least five years. Capcom has not announced either project, so this is insider reporting—not confirmation or cancellation.

What the report says about a Resident Evil 5 remake

IG News’ September 30, 2026 report attributes the development-status claim to Dusk Golem, also known as AestheticGamer. According to the insider, neither a Resident Evil 5 remake nor a Resident Evil 6 remake is currently in development. The report also attributes to him the view that an RE5 remake may happen eventually, while neither remake is expected to release within at least five years.

Those statements describe the insider’s assessment, not a Capcom announcement. “Not currently in development” does not mean Capcom has permanently cancelled the idea, and the five-year window is a prediction rather than a release schedule. Capcom has not confirmed an RE5 remake project in the sources available here.

Which Resident Evil remake is reportedly next?

The headline’s reference to “another remake” should be read as rumor, not confirmation. Capcom’s official history documents Resident Evil Code: Veronica as an existing game, but it does not announce a remake. The material available here does not establish an officially confirmed next remake, its development status, or a release date.

Capcom’s official series history describes the original Code: Veronica story, set in December 1998 and featuring Claire, Chris, Steve, and Wesker across Rockfort Island and Antarctica. That history is background on the original game; it is not evidence that a remake is underway.

What an RE5 remake would revisit

Capcom’s official history dates Resident Evil 5 to March 2009. Its story follows Chris to the Kijuju Autonomous Zone, where he and Sheva investigate a bioweapons plot involving Uroboros; Jill and Wesker are also among the game’s principal characters. These details establish what the original game is, not what Capcom may remake.

  • TERRIFYING ZOMBIES WAITING AROUND EVERY CORNER -- Driven by insatiable hunger, these creatures act on instinct, gnashing their teeth, ripping at flesh, and devouring their victims. The new immersive camera lets you feel their fangs as they sink into your flesh.
  • RACCOON CITY, REBUILT IN INTRICATE DETAIL -- The characters, environments, and story have all been rebuilt from the ground up to create a terrifying world that feels both nostalgic and new.

Players who want to revisit the existing game can find Resident Evil 5 in Capcom’s official lineup, which lists PS4 among its platforms. That listing is for the existing game, not a remake.

How to read the remake claims

  • Source: Dusk Golem’s claim is relayed by IG News, rather than issued by Capcom.
  • RE5 status: Reportedly not in development at present; a future remake remains possible according to the insider.
  • RE5 and RE6 timing: The insider reportedly expects neither remake to release within at least five years. This is not an official timetable.
  • Code: Veronica: The original game is documented by Capcom, but the official history cited here does not confirm a remake.

Capcom’s March 22, 2026 anniversary message discusses future Resident Evil experiences in broad terms. Its general language is not a specific tease or confirmation of an RE5 or Code: Veronica remake.
