The showcase also brought news on Onimusha: Way of the Sword, Street Fighter 6 Year 3, and PRAGMATA, alongside reveals, trailers, and an in-game Fortnite event. Here’s what was actually announced, separated from games that simply received another look.
Was Resident Evil 9 revealed at Summer Game Fest 2025?
Yes. Capcom revealed Resident Evil Requiem as a new mainline entry in the series. “Resident Evil 9” was the familiar shorthand before the reveal; Requiem is the announced name.

Capcom identified Grace Ashcroft as the protagonist. Its event recap says players can choose between first-person and third-person perspectives, and describes Grace investigating her past while confronting new horrors. Capcom’s June 6, 2025 announcement gave a February 27, 2026 release date. GameSpot reported the announcement-era platforms as PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. Those are details reported at the reveal, not a confirmation of the game’s current availability or platform status.
Summer Game Fest host Geoff Keighley characterized the game as a shift in tone and gameplay, with survival horror and “high-stakes cinematic action,” as quoted in GameSpot’s reveal report. That is Keighley’s description, rather than a detailed specification from Capcom.

What else did Capcom announce?
Capcom’s June 12, 2025 event recap covers the publisher’s own showcase announcements: a new Onimusha trailer, the Street Fighter 6 Year 3 character lineup, the Resident Evil Requiem reveal, and a first hands-on demo of PRAGMATA for event attendees.
Onimusha: Way of the Sword
The second trailer showed Miyamoto Musashi fighting Genma with parries, defensive maneuvers, and special attacks. It also introduced Sasaki Ganryu, a rival who wields an Oni Gauntlet. Capcom’s description places the game in Edo-period Kyoto, a city affected by Malice.
Street Fighter 6 Year 3
Capcom announced four characters and these original release windows. They were the schedule stated at the time, not a verified account of current availability.

PRAGMATA
Summer Game Fest attendees got the game’s first hands-on demo. Capcom described the science-fiction action-adventure as starring Hugh Williams and Diana, who are in a lunar research facility overrun by hostile AI. Hugh handles combat, while Diana’s hacking abilities play a central role in action and exploration.
Other notable Summer Game Fest showcase moments
The main showcase mixed new announcements with trailers or updates for games already known. The distinction matters: a game appearing in a showcase does not necessarily mean it was newly revealed there.

The PC Gamer June 7, 2025 live roundup follows the showcase timeline and distinguishes its main stream from the indie-focused Day of the Devs stream that followed. Its catch-up coverage also lists Wuchang: Fallen Feathers, Splitgate 2, Guild Wars 2, Mongil: Star Dive, and Into the Unwell; those mentions should not be mistaken for all being new reveals during the main show. GameSpot’s event gallery also recaps the Death Star Sabotage event, Death Stranding 2 footage, and Chronicles: Medieval.
