The official Resident Evil account also posted on August 22, 2025: “We’re pleased to share that Resident Evil Requiem has won 4 Gamescom awards at #Gamescom2025 !”
Why did it win before release?
Gamescom 2025 ran in Cologne from August 20 through August 24, and Saiga NAK reported that the event featured the world’s first playable demo of Requiem. The game’s scheduled release date was February 27, 2026, on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Steam, so the awards came before launch. That scheduled date has passed; the report establishes the announced timing, not the game’s current store availability or post-launch performance.

- Grace Ashcroft, an FBI intelligence analyst who is introverted and easily scared, representing a new type of character for the Resident Evil series. Grace will experience horror from the same perspective as the player as she learns to overcome her fears throughout the course of the story.
- For the first time ever in Resident Evil history, players will be able to freely switch between both first- and third-person perspectives throughout the game.
- An Anniversary to Remember: With March 2026 marking the Resident Evil series’ 30-year anniversary, Resident Evil Requiem marks its own milestone in the franchise.
- Pre-orders for Resident Evil Requiem are now open, with the bonus of Grace’s costume: Apocalypse. Please note that the picture weapon does not come with the costume, but it can be obtained in-game.
Does Capcom’s award count as a fifth win?
No. Saiga NAK separately reports that Capcom received Best Lineup at the same event. That was a publisher award, distinct from the four awards listed for Resident Evil Requiem, so it should not be added to the game’s count.

The count is specific to gamescom award 2025, not a tally across every award program. The available report does not establish the awards’ voting or judging methodology, and four pre-release wins do not by themselves predict the game’s quality or commercial success.
