For a level-40 Restoration Druid in WoW Classic: Season of Discovery Phase 2, the best-in-slot list is a starting point, not a universal set. Wowhead’s Phase 2 recommendations favor a hybrid healer who contributes spell damage between healing, while offering healing-focused alternatives. Your profession, mana needs, survival priorities, and willingness to raid or grind PvP can all change the best practical choices.
What Phase 2 best-in-slot means for a Restoration Druid
This is a historical, level-40 Phase 2 gearing guide—not a current endgame list. The primary slot recommendations and acquisition routes below follow Wowhead’s Phase 2 guide. Its page is maintained and displays Patch 1.15.8, so check that an item belongs to Phase 2 before treating a current page entry as a Phase 2 recommendation.
The list’s default playstyle is hybrid healing and spell damage. That distinction matters: the highest-throughput hybrid item may not be the best choice for a healer who wants to focus exclusively on healing, sustain mana, or survive a demanding encounter. Use the listed best items as targets, then choose alternatives that fit your role and what you can realistically acquire.
How to prioritize stats and playstyle
Hybrid healing and damage
For the hybrid setup, Wowhead prioritizes Spell Damage and Healing over Intellect, Spirit, and MP5. Its reasoning is that Phase 2 provides several mana tools, including Greater Mana Potion, Innervate, Dreamstate, Reflection, and High Voltage! This does not mean mana stats are worthless: they still matter when your casts and encounter length make sustained mana a constraint. The guide also does not make raw +Healing gear the default for this hybrid role.

Healing-only choices
If your priority is healing rather than contributing spell damage, use the healing-specific alternatives where available. Examples include the Tailoring head option, healing shoulders, a healing pendant and Void Pearl, and healing versions of the crafted chest, legs, and boots. The choice is about the role you want your set to serve, not a claim that one stat priority is right for every raid.
Do not silently substitute a later-phase stat list for this Phase 2 framework. Icy Veins’ general Season of Discovery gear page now foregrounds Phase 8 and gives a broader priority of Spell Healing, then MP5, Intellect, Spirit, and Stamina. Its history records a Phase 2 update on February 17, 2024, but the live page is oriented to a later phase.

Where the key Phase 2 gear comes from
There is no single farm that completes this set. The main routes are Gnomeregan, profession crafting, earlier dungeons and raids, the Stranglethorn Blood Moon event, Warsong Gulch reputation, and world drops. The table highlights representative slots and the decisions most likely to affect your gearing plan; it is not a complete slot-by-slot inventory.
| Slot or group | Hybrid option and route | Healing alternative or practical note |
|---|---|---|
| Head | Gneuro-Conductive Channeler’s Hood, made with Leatherworking | Gneuro-Linked Arcano-Filament Monocle, made with Tailoring. Wowhead describes the difference as minor, so using the profession you already have is reasonable. Electromagnetic Hyperflux Reactivator from Mekgineer Thermaplugg in Gnomeregan is another good option. |
| Shoulders | Synthetic Mantle, dropped by Viscous Fallout in Gnomeregan | Generously Padded Shoulderpads, also from Viscous Fallout. |
| Back | Bloodrot Cloak, purchased from Mai’zin for two Silver Blood Coins | Cape of Hemostasis is the healing option and uses the same Blood Moon coin route. |
| Chest, legs, and feet | Irradiated Robe, Irradiated Trousers, and Irradiated Boots from Gnomeregan | Hyperconductive equivalents are crafted through Ziri using Power Depleted components; the guide also lists healing versions. Weigh the survival and proc tradeoffs described below. |
| Wrists | Dryad’s Wrist Bindings require Exalted with Silverwing Sentinels or Warsong Outriders through Warsong Gulch | If you do not want that slow PvP reputation grind, use the Gnomeregan alternatives listed in the Phase 2 guide. |
| Hands | Dreamweave Gloves, made with Tailoring | The guide notes that Wildvine and Heart of the Wild make the crafting materials rare or expensive, but recommends saving for the gloves because the second-best option is substantially behind. |
| Jewelry | The Gnomeregan quest offers a choice of Piston Pendant for hybrid use or Pendant of Homecoming for healing | Choose for the set you intend to play before taking the reward. The guide also lists a Gnomeregan ring and PvP reputation rings. |
| Trinkets | Miniaturized Combustion Chamber from Mekgineer Thermaplugg pairs with Invoker’s Void Pearl for hybrid use | Acolyte’s Void Pearl is the healing option. The pearl comes from Blackfathom Deeps, so obtaining it may mean returning to that earlier raid. |
| Weapons | Use a main-hand and off-hand combination; options include Gnomeregan drops and alternatives from Scarlet Monastery or Blackfathom Deeps | Off-hand options include Gnomeregan and dungeon items. A two-hander can be worth considering when hit rating is important to your hybrid damage goals. |
Choose between Irradiated and Hyperconductive pieces
For chest, legs, and feet, Wowhead favors the Irradiated pieces for throughput. The Hyperconductive crafted set is a meaningful alternative rather than an automatic upgrade or downgrade: the Irradiated choice costs stamina compared with Hyperconductive options, while the three-piece proc can match throughput on average but is streaky. Average output does not guarantee the same result in every encounter or pull.

- Favor the Irradiated set when throughput is the priority and its stamina cost is acceptable for your group and encounter.
- Consider Hyperconductive pieces when the additional survival margin matters more than the Irradiated throughput ranking.
- Do not treat the three-piece proc’s average performance as steady, predictable healing; proc-dependent output varies.
Choose a weapon setup for the job
For the guide’s hybrid approach, a main-hand plus off-hand is generally preferred over a two-handed weapon. A fast weapon can let you make melee swings between instant casts in an effort to trigger Omen of Clarity. This is an opportunity to seek procs, not a guarantee.
A two-hander may still suit a hybrid damage goal when hit rating is a concern. Compare the actual weapon and off-hand options available to you rather than treating the general ranking as independent of your hit needs.

Plan around acquisition cost, not just item rank
- Profession: The top head choices are split between Leatherworking and Tailoring. Since Wowhead calls their difference minor, your existing profession can decide the choice without a major sacrifice.
- Raid access: Several standout pieces come from Gnomeregan, including shoulders, weapons, trinkets, and the Irradiated set. The table’s listed boss and quest routes help distinguish drops from crafted options.
- Materials: Dreamweave Gloves are a worthwhile savings target according to the guide, but their Wildvine and Heart of the Wild requirements can make them rare or expensive to craft.
- PvP commitment: Dryad’s Wrist Bindings require Exalted Warsong Gulch reputation, a slow grind. The Blood Moon cloak route instead uses two Silver Blood Coins.
- Earlier content: A Void Pearl trinket option comes from Blackfathom Deeps, and some weapon alternatives come from earlier content. Those can fill a slot if your Gnomeregan drops are incomplete.
Verify that a recommendation really belongs to Phase 2
Historical recommendations can be easy to misread on maintained guides. Wowhead’s page is labeled Phase 2 but was updated June 27, 2026, and displays Patch 1.15.8; it warns that Mantle of Lady Falther’ess was introduced in Phase 7. Do not include that later item in a Phase 2 set. Icy Veins’ page was last updated April 8, 2025, and its current gear framing is Phase 8 despite retaining Phase 2 update history. Treat phase labels and item availability as part of the recommendation, not a detail to infer from a page’s title alone.
