PlayStation describes Spyro Reignited Trilogy as a collection featuring the first three Spyro adventures originally released for PS1. The official guide identifies Spyro the Dragon as a 1998 release and Spyro 2: Ripto’s Rage! as a 1999 release. Ratchet & Clank (PS4): a remake with new material
The PS4 Ratchet & Clank revisits the series’ first entry, taking cues from the 2002 PS2 release. PlayStation describes it as a remake that adds new planets, Clank gameplay, and voice acting. How to play these PS4 games on PS5
PlayStation says the overwhelming majority of more than 4,000 PS4 games are playable on PS5. That is broad compatibility, not a guarantee that every game behaves identically: some PS4 features may be missing, and some titles may show errors or unexpected behavior. Select games can benefit from Game Boost, which may provide higher or smoother frame rates; this does not establish a specific performance improvement for either recommendation here. Check the game format before buying or installing
- Physical PS4 copy: You need a PS5 model with a disc drive. The PS5 Digital Edition cannot play PS4 game discs, and the disc must remain in the console while you play.
- Digital copy: Sign in to the PlayStation account that owns the game and access it through your game library. Check the title’s current compatibility status because PlayStation notes that its compatibility information can change.
- Before purchase: Confirm that the listing is for the PS4 version and the format you can use. The collection’s platform and edition matter more than the fact that you own a PS5.
Where the retro label stops fitting
Silent Hill 2: a PS5 remake, but survival horror first
PlayStation identifies Silent Hill 2 as a PS5 remake of the 2001 PS2 title. Its survival-horror identity makes it a useful boundary case: it is a retro-era remake, but it should not be presented as a conventional adventure recommendation without noting the horror focus. The Last of Us Part II: an adventure, not a retro-rooted game
PlayStation classifies The Last of Us Part II as action-adventure and includes it among notable PS4 games playable on PS5. It is a PS4-era adventure rather than a retro title, so it belongs in a broader guide to PS4 adventure games—not in a list defined by older-generation roots.
