Roblox is no longer under the nationwide restriction Russia announced in December 2025. On June 10, 2026, Russia’s Digital Development Ministry said the service was again available throughout the country after Roblox introduced additional child-protection measures. The ministry’s statement does not establish whether every feature is available to every user.
What is Roblox’s status in Russia?
The latest official status identified is the ministry’s June 10, 2026 announcement that Roblox was again available throughout Russia. It said the company had met Russian user-safety requirements, introduced additional child-protection measures—including age-based restrictions on games—and committed to addressing inappropriate content. The announcement did not confirm the availability of specific features such as chat or voice chat for every user. Interfax reported the ministry’s statement.
How the restriction and restoration unfolded
| Date | What was announced | What it means |
|---|---|---|
| December 3, 2025 | Roskomnadzor said it had restricted access to Roblox in Russia. | The regulator stated its grounds for the restriction; its allegations are not independent verification of the alleged content. |
| December 17, 2025 | Roskomnadzor said Roblox had contacted it and expressed willingness to cooperate. | This was a report of possible cooperation, not an announcement that the restriction had ended. |
| June 10, 2026 | The Digital Development Ministry said Roblox was again available throughout Russia. | The ministry tied restoration to user-safety measures and commitments concerning inappropriate content. |
Interfax reported the December restriction and the regulator’s stated rationale; it also reported the December 17 cooperation statement.
Why did Russia restrict Roblox?
On December 3, 2025, Roskomnadzor said it had restricted access over what it described as repeated distribution of prohibited material. The agency alleged the platform contained propaganda or justification of extremist and terrorist activity, calls for illegal violent actions, and LGBT propaganda. It also cited concerns about moderation, harmful content, and child safety. These are the regulator’s stated allegations and concerns, not findings independently established by the cited reporting. Interfax quoted Roskomnadzor’s press service.

What changed before access was restored?
In December 2025, Roskomnadzor said Roblox had expressed readiness to work with it on removing what the regulator called “destructive and dangerous information” and preventing criminal actions and communications. The agency said it would engage if that willingness led to real changes; this report did not say access had been restored. Interfax reported the regulator’s account.
In its June 2026 announcement, the Digital Development Ministry said Roblox had complied with Russian user-safety legislation. It pointed to additional child-protection measures, including age-based limits on game access, and the company’s commitment to address inappropriate content. The ministry’s account explains the stated basis for restoration; it does not say the earlier allegations were withdrawn or disproved. Interfax reported the ministry’s statement.

What Roblox and Russian users said
A Roblox spokesperson told Euronews on December 4, 2025: “We have a deep commitment to safety and we have a robust set of proactive and preventative safety measures designed to catch and prevent harmful content on our platform.” That was the company’s public response, not confirmation that the restriction had been lifted. Euronews reported the statement.
The Moscow Times reported in 2026 that Yekaterina Mizulina said she had received 63,000 letters from children aged eight to 16 after the restriction, and that half expressed a desire to leave Russia. This is Mizulina’s attributed claim, not an independently verified count. The Moscow Times reported her statement.

Does the restoration cover chat and every Roblox feature?
The ministry said the service was available throughout Russia, but its announcement does not resolve whether chat, voice chat, age-gated experiences, or every other feature was available to every Russian user. Check current Roblox access and feature availability separately rather than assuming that nationwide service availability guarantees access to each function.
