Create a Roblox account from the Roblox Home Page by choosing the sign-up option and following the prompts. You’ll need a unique username, a password and your birthday; gender is optional. Email, phone verification and a security key are not universal signup requirements. These instructions reflect Roblox’s current guidance, not necessarily the screens shown in older 2022 walkthroughs.
What do you need to sign up for Roblox?
Roblox’s Privacy and Cookie Policy identifies a username, password and birthday as signup details; gender is optional. A CAPTCHA may also appear during signup to discourage fake accounts, but prompts can vary. Use your real birthday: Roblox uses it for age-appropriate settings and feature access.
- Username: Choose a unique name that does not reveal your real name or other personal information.
- Password: Make it difficult to guess and keep it private. Roblox says a password may be shared with a parent or guardian.
- Email or phone: These can help with account recovery after signup. Roblox does not require every user to provide them to create a standard account.
How do I create a new Roblox account?
- Open the Roblox Home Page and select the sign-up option.
- Follow the prompts to enter your birthday, username and password. Complete a CAPTCHA if one appears.
- If you are under 18, have a parent or legal guardian participate in creating the account. Roblox’s Terms of Use say the parent or guardian accepts the Terms on the minor’s behalf and allows the minor to use the service.
- After signup, open Settings > Account Info to add and verify an email address. This is useful for account recovery and enables email login in supported apps.
Roblox’s Terms say people aged 5 and older may have an account. Under-13 accounts have stronger privacy settings by default, according to Roblox’s privacy guidance.
Can my child create a Roblox account?
Children can have accounts if they meet Roblox’s age eligibility rules, but a user under 18 must create the account with a parent or legal guardian, who accepts the Terms and permits the child’s use. Some settings and features may also depend on parental controls and the child’s age.

Roblox says parents of children under 18 can add parent privileges in most regions, and the parent must complete an age check confirming they are 18 or older. See Roblox’s Parental Controls FAQ and instructions for linking a child’s account.
How do I log in to Roblox with my email?
Enter your account username and password to log in. In Roblox’s mobile and browser apps, you can also use the email address on your account if it has been verified. Roblox explains the requirements in Logging In with Your Email.

| Login method | When it works | What to know |
|---|---|---|
| Username and password | Use the username associated with the account. | Use this method if email login is unavailable or one email is associated with more than one username. |
| Verified email and password | Available in Roblox mobile and browser apps when the account email is verified. | An unverified address will not work. Check the address and verification status if login fails. |
Email login is a convenience, not a replacement for knowing your username. If Roblox says the email is associated with multiple usernames, sign in with the username for the account you want.
What if I forgot my Roblox password?
Use Roblox’s password-recovery flow from the login screen and follow the prompts for the recovery method associated with your account. A verified email or, where available, verified phone can help you regain access. For an account belonging to a child under 13, Roblox says a parent’s verified email can be used as the parental recovery email.

Roblox describes facial age estimation and ID verification as age-check methods; ID verification is available only to users aged 13 or older. Do not enter a false birthday to try to unlock a feature. Follow the current checks and settings shown for your account.
How can I protect a new Roblox account?
- Use a hard-to-guess password and do not share it with other people, except a parent or guardian as Roblox permits.
- Verify an email address so it can help with recovery.
- Turn on 2-Step Verification in your account’s current security settings for an additional sign-in check.
Roblox also offers Enhanced Protection, a more stringent option using phishing-resistant passkeys. Roblox says it requires at least one passkey, a verified email and a secondary identity method: a verified phone or backup codes. Hardware security keys can be registered as passkeys in the documented Chrome/Android scenario; they are optional and are not needed for ordinary login. See Enhanced Protection: Phishing-Resistant Account Security.
