What a Roblox scam link is
A Roblox scam link is a message or webpage designed to trick you into leaving Roblox, entering account information into a fake form, handing over a password or security code, or downloading unwanted software. The link may arrive in Roblox chat, a private message, an experience, email, text message, or another social platform.

Not every external link is technically malicious, but an unfamiliar or unsolicited link should be treated as suspicious—especially when it promises Robux or threatens that your account will be deleted. Roblox advises users not to click links that take them off-platform and to enter login information only through roblox.com or the official Roblox app login screen.

Why the message can look convincing
Scam links are trust attacks. The URL is only one part of the deception. The sender may copy Roblox colors and logos, use a familiar username, imitate a friend, or create a message that appears to come from a security system.
The emotional trigger is usually either excitement or fear:
- Excitement: free Robux, a limited giveaway, a rare item, a secret code, or an offer that expires soon.
- Fear: an account-leak notice, a fake moderation warning, a password-reset demand, or a claim that the account will be deleted.
In April 2025, Roblox documented a phishing campaign that impersonated a Roblox Security Alert. The fake page asked users for both their old and new passwords. Roblox said official Security Alert emails are sent from [email protected], but checking the sender alone is not a safe substitute for independent navigation. A scammer can imitate the appearance of an email, and a legitimate-looking message can be forwarded or manipulated.

A friend’s message is not automatically safe either. Friends may unknowingly forward a scam after their own account or device has been compromised. Judge the link and request—not only the identity of the sender.
How to inspect a suspicious link without taking the risk
The safest inspection is not opening the destination. If a message preview shows a destination, examine the actual domain rather than the large displayed text, logo, avatar, or sender name. A hyperlink labeled Roblox can point somewhere else.
Pay attention to:
- misspelled versions of Roblox;
- substituted characters such as a zero in place of the letter O;
- unusual punctuation, spaces, or extra words;
- domains that merely contain the word Roblox but are not controlled by Roblox;
- shortened links that hide the final destination;
- a page that requests a password, cookie, 2-step-verification code, backup code, payment detail, or personal information;
- a download or browser-extension request before you can receive a reward.
Do not copy and paste the suspicious address into a browser to test it. Do not reply to ask whether it is genuine. If the offer or warning might be legitimate, independently type roblox.com into the browser or open the official application, then look for the relevant notification or account control.

What scammers are trying to steal
A fake Roblox login page may be collecting more than the password. Treat every requested secret as compromised if you entered it into an untrusted page.
- Password: the attacker may sign in immediately or try the same password on your email and other services.
- Browser cookie or session token: this can provide account access without the attacker needing to know the password.
- 2SV code or backup code: the code may let an attacker complete a login that would otherwise be blocked.
- Email address or phone number: this can support later impersonation and targeted phishing.
- Payment information: card or payment details can create a separate financial-risk problem.
- Device information: a malicious download, keylogger, or extension may capture additional passwords and personal data.
Never share a Roblox password, cookie, 2SV code, backup code, personal detail, or sensitive computer information with another person. A request is not made legitimate by a promise of Robux or by a claim that the sender is staff.
What to do when a scam link appears
- Stop before clicking. Do not open, copy, paste, or type the suspicious address into a browser. Do not reply to the sender.
- Do not submit information. Never enter a password, cookie, 2SV code, backup code, email address, payment detail, or personal information.
- Preserve limited evidence. Note the sender’s username, message, experience, and visible link text. Take a screenshot if it does not expose your own private information. Do not open the destination to gather more evidence.
- Report it through Roblox. Use the Report Abuse controls for the message, user, link, or experience. Reports help Roblox investigate scams and bad actors.
- Block or delete the sender. Do this after reporting so the same account cannot keep contacting you.
- Report external messages where appropriate. For a phishing email in the United States, the FTC recommends forwarding it to
[email protected]and reporting the attempt toReportFraud.ftc.gov. Other countries have their own consumer-protection and cybercrime reporting channels.
If you clicked but did not enter anything
Clicking a link does not prove that your Roblox account was taken over. The risk depends on what happened next: whether a file downloaded, an extension was installed, a fake form was completed, or the page showed other suspicious behavior.
- Close the page without interacting with pop-ups or “security” prompts.
- Do not open any file that downloaded. Do not install an extension from the page.
- Review the browser’s recent downloads and installed extensions. Remove anything you do not recognize, particularly an extension claiming to be an official Roblox security or rewards tool.
- Update the device’s operating system, browser, and reputable security software.
- Run a full device scan if a download occurred or the device is behaving unusually. The FTC recommends updating security software and scanning after a suspicious link or attachment may have downloaded harmful software.
- Open Roblox only through
roblox.comor the official app and check account-security activity from there.
If the device belongs to a school, workplace, or family organization, tell the responsible administrator. Do not keep experimenting with the suspicious page to determine what it does.
If you entered a Roblox password, code, or cookie
Act immediately, even if the account still looks normal. Use a different device if you suspect the original device has malware.

- Protect the associated email account. If the Roblox password was reused anywhere, change it on every affected service, starting with the email account connected to Roblox. An attacker who controls that email may be able to intercept recovery messages.
- Enable stronger sign-in protection. Turn on 2-step verification, a passkey, or another security method available to the account. Review account-security controls for unfamiliar activity and end other sessions if Roblox offers that control in the account.
- Handle stolen cookies or session tokens as an emergency. Change the password, use available session and security controls, and contact Roblox Support if access or account activity remains suspicious. A password change should not be treated as proof that every stolen session has disappeared.
- Remove suspicious software. Delete untrusted downloads and extensions, update security software, and run a full virus or malware scan before relying on the device for account recovery.
- Protect payment accounts. If payment information was entered, contact the card issuer or payment provider through its known official channel and monitor for unauthorized activity.
Do not give a second person your new password or recovery code while trying to get help. Anyone offering to recover Robux or an account in exchange for a password, cookie, code, or payment is creating another scam risk.

If you can no longer access the account
Use the official Roblox Support route rather than a recovery service found in a message or search advertisement. Explain that the account may have been compromised and provide the requested ownership details.
Roblox says the first email address added to the account or the billing email used for the first payment can help verify ownership. Contact Support as soon as possible: Roblox says compromised-account assistance should be requested within 30 days. Recovery is not guaranteed, and Roblox does not guarantee the return of the account, virtual items, or virtual currency. In limited circumstances, inventory assistance may be possible.
If the attacker changed the email address or password, include the original account information you still have, but do not send passwords, cookies, or 2SV codes in a support request. Support should not require those secrets.

1. Use a verified email and a unique password
A verified email gives the account a recovery route, but it must be protected too. Use a password that is not used on any other service. A secure password manager can help generate and store unique passwords, although a password manager does not make it safe to type credentials into a phishing page.
2. Turn on 2-step verification
Roblox supports 2-step verification through methods that can include email, an authenticator application, security keys, second-device approval, backup codes, and passkeys. Availability and setup requirements vary by method. 2SV helps reduce the damage from a stolen password, but it does not make an account invulnerable and it cannot protect a user who hands the second factor to a scammer.
Store backup codes privately and securely. Never send them to another player, supposed moderator, or person claiming to be Support.

3. Consider a passkey or hardware security key
Roblox’s Enhanced Protection feature is built around phishing-resistant methods such as device-bound passkeys or compatible hardware security keys for sign-in and 2SV challenges. A FIDO2 security key may be worth considering for a user whose device and account support the required method.

Buying a key alone does not activate Enhanced Protection. Check Roblox’s current eligibility and setup requirements, confirm that the device supports the key, and maintain backup recovery methods. Physical keys can be lost or damaged, so having no recovery plan can lock out the legitimate owner.
4. Keep the device and browser clean
Do not install a “Roblox security extension,” cheat, generator, or reward tool from a message. Roblox says it does not create official browser extensions. Keep the browser, operating system, and reputable security software updated, and remove extensions you no longer recognize.
5. Use official systems for trades and sales
Promises involving unofficial trades, item sales, or payment outside Roblox carry both scam and recovery risks. Roblox warns that it cannot enforce or recover items from unofficial transactions outside its official trading and selling systems.

- Does it create urgency or threaten account deletion?
- Does it send you away from Roblox?
- Is the destination misspelled, unfamiliar, shortened, or filled with unusual characters?

Children are often targeted with rewards and urgency because those messages are easy to understand and emotionally powerful. Explain that the goal is not to punish them for seeing or clicking a message; the goal is to stop the attacker before more information is shared.

Teach four repeatable habits:
- Pause: a real reward should not require an immediate decision.
- Leave the link: open Roblox from the normal app or a self-typed address instead.
- Keep secrets secret: passwords, cookies, 2SV codes, backup codes, and payment details are never shared with players or supposed staff.
- Tell an adult and report: reporting quickly is more useful than hiding the mistake.
Practice with harmless examples: ask what the child would do if a friend sent a free-Robux link, a moderator demanded a code, or a game displayed a login form. Make sure the child knows that even a trusted friend can unknowingly forward a scam. Avoid blaming or shaming; secrecy gives scammers more time to work.
What Roblox will and will not protect
Roblox’s Community Standards prohibit scams and misleading links intended to obtain unauthorized access to accounts or information. They also prohibit directing users off-platform in ways that create safety risks. Reporting helps Roblox investigate, but a report is not a substitute for changing a compromised password or scanning a device.
Roblox’s official fraud guidance specifically warns about free-Robux offers, supposed administrators without appropriate badges, password requests, off-platform links, and unofficial trades or sales. The platform’s account protections can reduce risk, but no security method makes an account impossible to compromise. The safest defense remains refusing to authenticate through an unsolicited link.
