To publish a Roblox game, stop any active playtest in Studio, select File > Publish to Roblox, fill out the Publish Experience window, and click Create. That saves the experience to Roblox, but it does not make it public: new experiences start private. Choose who can access it separately in Creator Dashboard.
Publish your game from Roblox Studio
- Open your project and stop any playtest. Click Stop if the game is running in Studio. Publishing can be unavailable while a playtest is active.
- Open the publishing window. Select File > Publish to Roblox.
- Enter the experience details. In the Publish Experience window, provide a name and, if you want, a description. Choose which devices players can access it on if that choice appears in the workflow.
- Create the experience. Click Create. Studio uploads the start-place data model to Roblox and associates the experience with your account. Roblox explains the cloud save in its publishing documentation.
Roblox’s test-and-save tutorial recommends publishing about every ten minutes or after a major change. To save later edits, use File > Publish to Roblox again.
Choose who can access the experience
To change access, open the experience in Creator Dashboard and go to Configure > Settings, then find Audience. Select the audience that matches how you want to share the game and save the change.

These audience descriptions and settings are in Roblox’s publishing guide. A playtester permission by itself does not grant access to an experience that remains Private; choose an appropriate Limited audience if you want selected people to test it.

Check eligibility before choosing a public audience
Roblox applies publishing requirements to certain audience choices and actions, including publishing a new game, updating an existing public game, publishing to another game with Publish to Roblox As, and some audience changes. Requirements differ by intended age audience, so check the current Creator Hub eligibility rules before changing settings.
For 16+ and Trusted Friends availability
Roblox lists these conditions: an account in good standing and at least two days old, an age check through facial age estimation or government ID, and completion of the Maturity & Compliance Questionnaire.

For Roblox Kids and Select availability
Roblox describes additional verification and two-factor authentication requirements, plus either an active Roblox Plus or Premium subscription for two consecutive months or a one-time refundable fee. The experience must also pass an evaluation. Roblox’s Kids and Select documentation describes a trial phase, a safety review, and a threshold of 250 unique plays by highly engaged, age-checked users within a 60-day window.
Roblox also documents a one-time refundable publishing fee of 1,000 Robux per game as an alternative to maintaining the specified subscription for two consecutive months when seeking availability to users of all ages. Its publishing page describes a 50,000 Robux expedited review fee. These are platform fees for the specified all-ages path, not charges for the basic Studio publish action. The 1,000 Robux refund is conditional: Roblox says a game must maintain 25 highly engaged players for 60 days without moderation; a game permanently moderated or taken down for Community Standards violations during that period is not eligible for a refund. Confirm current fees and criteria in the live publishing requirements before relying on them.

Roblox says creators can make up to five private games that have never been public before public each day. The limit resets daily; making an already-public game private and then public again does not count toward it. Check the current publishing guide for the applicable rules.
Troubleshoot publishing problems
- “Publish to Roblox” is greyed out: stop the active playtest, then try File > Publish to Roblox again. Roblox notes this behavior in its test-and-save tutorial.
- Saving or publishing fails: check the place size. Roblox documents a maximum of 100 MB (104,857,600 bytes); a larger place may fail to save or publish. Exporting the place as an
.rbxlfile can help estimate its size, though Roblox notes the uploaded data is slightly smaller than the exported file. See the publishing guide. - A playtester cannot open the game: confirm the Audience setting. Playtester permissions alone do not open a Private experience; choose Limited > Playtesters when appropriate and available.
Share the experience with players
After the experience is available to its intended audience, copy its landing-page URL from Creator Dashboard or the Roblox app. Roblox describes this option in its experience configuration documentation.
