Root Digital update 2.0.12, published November 6, 2025, bundles incremental fixes after the Hirelings & Landmarks release. The patch addresses faction and rules edge cases, undo behavior, interface problems, and localization—not a single sweeping rules redesign. Read the official announcement from Dire Wolf Digital.
What changed in Root Digital 2.0.12?
The November 6, 2025 announcement groups together fixes and improvements across several parts of the digital game. Its changes include corrected faction interactions, more reliable actions and achievements, additional undo support in specific situations, and UI and text fixes. The announcement does not report benchmark results or measured performance changes.
Gameplay and faction fixes
Many of the fixes address narrow interactions that could interfere with a turn, action, or game setup:
- Setup and maps: Advanced Setup now determines the first player correctly, and Adset games should start correctly on the Lake or Mountain maps.
- Vagabond interactions: Rat Smugglers no longer require the Vagabond to have an unused boot to move; the Vagabond can use Cobbler at the start of Evening; swords now exhaust correctly when attacking the Hundreds; and the Vagabond can continue scoring when another Vagabond enters a coalition with them.
- Faction rules: Warm Sun Prophets can no longer move an opponent’s Warlord; the Lizard Cult can no longer recruit with off-suit cards; Woodland Alliance can recruit Officers to Bases in the Lost City clearing; and Riverfolk Mercenaries now appear in battle as intended.
- Combat and abilities: Hundreds should no longer deal rolled hits when Looting; Favor and Partisan cards now damage the Vagabond as intended; and the Arbiter should be enlistable in battle again.
- Other edge cases: Field Hospital is no longer limited to one instance of warriors lost in Async timer games, and Marquise can again use Field Hospital after losses in the Keep clearing during Async games. Rule now updates after the Spring Uprising removes pieces.
- Prompts and cards: The Eyrie gets a Black Market window before adding to the Decree. Keepers are no longer prompted to move relics when the Vagabond forces them to move, or when False Orders moves them. Cancelling Dig before confirming how many warriors to move should no longer make cards disappear.
- Achievements: Exile’s Revenge can now be earned, and Hirelings and Landmarks achievements on Android should now be granted correctly.

Version 2.0.12 is a digital-game patch, not a change to the printed tabletop rules or components. The announcement describes a collection of incremental fixes following the Hirelings & Landmarks release. It does not provide crash-rate reductions, player-count changes, or other measured outcomes, and the listed corrections are the publisher’s stated intended behavior rather than independent test results.
