Jagex has officially announced three new skills for RuneScape: Dragonwilds: Prayer, Hunter and Slayer. Prayer is scheduled to arrive with the Luminance update in December 2026. Hunter is planned for early 2027 as part of Song of Rebellion, the opening chapter of the Blood Crystal Saga. Slayer is confirmed for a future quarterly update, but Jagex has not announced a month or named release for it.
The roadmap expands the RuneScape progression formula inside Dragonwilds’ open-world survival-crafting setting, while leaving the actual mechanics, training methods and rewards for all three skills largely undisclosed.

The announced skills are Prayer, Hunter and Slayer. Jagex revealed them in its RuneFest 2026 roadmap, but has not yet published enough system detail to explain how they will be trained, which resources they will require or how their rewards will work.

When is Prayer coming to Dragonwilds?
Prayer is scheduled for the Luminance update in December 2026. Jagex describes Luminance as a prelude to the 2027 Blood Crystal Saga, making Prayer the first announced skill to reach the game after its version 1.0 launch.

What else is planned for Song of Rebellion?
Jagex says the early-2027 content will include iconic enemies such as Moss Giants, Kebbits and Implings, as well as new areas, quests, equipment and house decorations inspired by Prifddinas. The roadmap groups Hunter with this broader expansion, so the skill is expected to launch as part of a substantial content drop rather than as an isolated system patch.
There is no published explanation yet of whether Hunter will focus on tracking, creature resources, combat support or another role. Players should wait for official previews before assuming that its name maps directly to the skill’s RuneScape implementation.
When will Slayer release?
