Rust Console Edition: What Double Eleven Fixed About Invisible Players and Walls

Patch 1.82 lists separate fixes for invisible players, invisible assets caused by network desync, and a Water Tower crate-looting-through-wall bug. The notes do not establish a shared cause.

Double Eleven’s September 28, 2026, Patch Notes 1.82 list fixes for players appearing invisible to other players and for a network desync that made in-game assets invisible. The same update also fixes a separate issue that let players loot Water Tower crates through a wall. The notes document three fixes, not one confirmed, all-purpose “invisible players and walls” glitch.

What Double Eleven acknowledged in Patch 1.82

The official Patch Notes 1.82, dated September 28, 2026, contain three distinct entries relevant to reports about invisibility or walls:

  • “Fixed a bug causing players to be invisible to other players.”
  • “Fixed an issue causing a network desync making in-game assets invisible.”
  • “Fixed a bug causing players to loot crates from the Water Tower through the wall.”

The first concerns player visibility to other players. The second concerns assets becoming invisible during a network desync. The third is a location-specific crate-looting issue. Double Eleven lists them separately and does not say they share a cause.

Are invisible players and seeing through walls the same glitch?

No shared cause is established by the cited notes. The phrase “walls glitch” can refer to different symptoms, and the patch entries describe different behavior:

Reported symptom What the official note says Scope described
Players invisible to other players Patch 1.82 says Double Eleven fixed a bug causing this. Patch note does not specify a cause or map.
In-game assets invisible Patch 1.82 says Double Eleven fixed an issue causing a network desync that made assets invisible. Patch note does not specify which assets or a cause of the desync.
Seeing through player-made structures Update 1.63 says it fixed a bug allowing players to see through structures briefly after spawning. Player-made structures; brief period after spawning.
Looting crates through a wall Patch 1.82 says it fixed a bug involving crates at the Water Tower. Water Tower crates; the note describes looting, not seeing through walls.

Accordingly, the Water Tower fix is not evidence that a player could see through every wall, and the older structure-visibility fix should not be treated as the cause of the 1.82 player-invisibility or asset-desync issues.

What the older invisible-player report explains

Double Eleven’s Pre-Order Beta Patch 1.02 post, published May 5, 2021, described an earlier desync issue it called the “desync/’astral projection’/invisible players bug.” The developer said a client thread responsible for updating player positions crashed after an object failed to spawn correctly on some maps containing quarries. The rest of the game continued, but the player’s new position was not sent to the server.

That is an explanation for the historical beta bug described in that post—not a stated cause for either invisible-player fix in Patch 1.82. The 2026 notes list the fixes without giving a mechanism, so the old quarry-map explanation should not be carried forward as if it applied to the newer issues.

What Update 1.63 says about seeing through structures

In its Update 1.63 Patch Notes, dated April 14 (the official news search result identifies the year as 2026), Double Eleven said it fixed a bug that let players see through player-made structures for a short time after spawning. That entry is about temporary visibility through structures, not the Water Tower crate interaction or the two invisibility issues separately listed in Patch 1.82.

Does Patch 1.82 prove the glitches are gone?

It establishes that Double Eleven documented and listed fixes for the specified issues. Patch notes alone do not independently confirm that every similar symptom is gone for every player, platform, or server. The developer’s news index listed Dev Blog #55 – 1.16 Patch Notes on September 23, 2026, but that listing does not establish the status of every earlier visual issue.

Rust: Console Edition is developed and published by Double Eleven, and Facepunch lists Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5 as platforms on its Rust page. The cited Patch 1.82 notes do not say that the fixes apply differently by console or server.
