To tame a Lizard Doggo in Satisfactory, drop exactly one Paleberry on the ground, let the wild Doggo eat it, then press E to pet it. The important part is petting it after it finishes eating—not simply petting it when you first approach.
This method applies to Satisfactory Update 1.2, patch v1.2.3.1 (Build 495413), released June 24, 2026, on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. Patch v1.2.3.0 also fixed an issue that could make the inventory unusable after interacting with a Doggo.

What you need
- One Paleberry.
- An available inventory slot so you can split a berry stack.
- A wild Lizard Doggo.
Paleberries grow on Paleberry Plants across the world. Each plant produces one to three berries, and Paleberries stack to 50. Beryl Nuts, Bacon Agaric, Mycelia, and other consumables do not tame Doggos; the required item is specifically a Paleberry. See the Lizard Doggo reference for the current behavior.
The easy, reliable taming method
1. Split off one Paleberry
Do this before approaching the Doggo so you do not leave your inventory open while it is nearby.

- Press
Tabto open your inventory on keyboard and mouse. - Hover over the Paleberry stack.
- Right-click to split the stack, or hold the right mouse button to open the custom split interface.
- Set the quantity to 1.
- Close the inventory.
The custom split interface is useful because it lets you separate an exact quantity. Do not plan to drop the entire stack: the Doggo may eat all of it.
2. Approach carefully
Walk toward the wild Doggo. When it turns toward you and stares, stop moving. Sprinting, jumping, Blade Runners, or standing too close for too long can frighten it.
On keyboard and mouse, press Shift to turn off sprinting. Crouch-walking can also make the approach easier. If the Doggo runs away, do not chase it at close range. Follow from a distance, wait for it to settle, and try again.

3. Drop the single Paleberry
- Press
Tabto reopen your inventory. - Drag the single Paleberry completely outside the inventory window.
- Release it on the ground near the Doggo.
- Stop moving and wait.
You do not need to equip the berry or use a feeding interaction. The Doggo must find and eat the Paleberry from the ground. Do not jump or sprint while it approaches the food.
4. Pet the Doggo after it eats
Once the Doggo has finished eating, look at it and press E, the default interact key. A successful taming is confirmed by its happy jump and chirp. The timing is important: interact after it eats, but before it leaves the area. The official wiki describes this sequence as having a 100% taming probability when performed correctly.
Petting a wild Doggo before it eats the Paleberry does not complete the taming process.

A no-chasing alternative
If approaching the Doggo keeps making it flee, drop one Paleberry in an area where you have seen it and move away. The Pioneer does not need to stand beside the berry or the animal. The Doggo only needs to eat the Paleberry.

Creatures that are too far away are not loaded by the game, so the Doggo may not move toward or eat the berry if you leave the area entirely.
For a faster variation:
- Drop the Paleberry roughly 5–10 foundations, or about 40–80 metres, from the Doggo.
- Move around to the opposite side.
- Let the Doggo run away from you toward the berry.
- Stay far enough away that you are not constantly frightening it.
- After it eats, approach and press
Eto pet it.
What you gain after taming
A tamed Doggo stops fleeing from the Pioneer, becomes friendly, and follows you. You can pet it, rename it through its interaction interface, and access its one-slot inventory. That inventory can contain a wide range of random items; Doggos are not limited to Power Slugs. Radioactive items were removed from the Lizard Doggo loot table in Satisfactory 1.0.

How to get the Doggo home safely
Taming does not make a Doggo invulnerable. It can still die from poison gas, falls, vehicles, player attacks, or damage from attacks aimed at the Pioneer. If the player attacks a tamed Doggo, it becomes untamed and flees.
Doggos also cannot jump over approximately one metre. Foundations, conveyors, walls, cliffs, and ravines can block them, and they struggle to keep up with a sprinting Pioneer—especially when Blade Runners are equipped.
Build a simple route using foundations, ramps, or walkways. For long-term safety, keep the Doggo in a covered pen made from foundations and walls. This protects it from poison clouds, terrain traps, vehicles, combat, and falls.

Common problems and fixes
The Doggo ate the berry but did not tame
It may have been frightened during the interaction. Move away, let it settle, then drop another single Paleberry and repeat the sequence. Wait until it finishes eating before pressing E.
Another Doggo took the Paleberry
Nearby tamed Doggos may also try to eat a dropped Paleberry. Keep them away from the wild Doggo, or place the berry where the intended Doggo can reach it first.
The Doggo keeps running away
Stop chasing it at close range. Put away sprinting, avoid jumping and Blade Runners, follow at a distance, and wait for it to settle. The no-chasing method is often easier: place one Paleberry nearby and let the Doggo find it while you remain out of its immediate path.

The Doggo died
Doggos eventually respawn at their spawn point. A formerly tamed Doggo respawns near where it was originally tamed and must be found and tamed again. Buildings placed too close to the original spawn point may prevent respawning.
