Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsSEGA’s Steam delisting deadline was December 6, 2024, so the affected games are no longer available for new purchases through that change. SEGA says games already owned remain in the owner’s Steam library and can still be downloaded and played. The announcement covered Steam and other storefronts, but each platform had a different list.
When did SEGA delist its classic games?
SEGA announced the change on November 6, 2024. Its Steam notice set December 6, 2024, as the end date for new purchases of the named titles and bundles. SEGA Support specifies that the delisting began at 11:59 p.m. PST that day. SEGA’s Steam announcement and its SEGA Classics FAQ provide the dates.
The old headline’s “now’s the time to grab them” urgency is no longer current. The date marked the end of new purchases through the affected storefront listings; it did not, according to SEGA, remove copies people had already bought.
Can I still play SEGA games I bought on Steam?
SEGA says previously owned games remain in the buyer’s library and can be downloaded and played. In its Steam announcement, SEGA wrote: “No worries if you already own a game or bundle. These gems will still live in your Steam library.” Its support FAQ similarly states: “Your owned games will still be available in your library.”

- The iconic SEGA Genesis console that defined a generation of gaming returns in a slick, miniaturized unit.
- The SEGA Genesis Mini console is loaded with 42 legendary games and is plug and play ready right out of the box!
- Box contents: Sega Genesis Mini console and 2 wired controllers, 40 games + 2 bonus games, power cable and USB adapter, and HDMI cable.
This is SEGA’s stated policy for games already owned; it is not a promise about every possible account or platform circumstance. If a title you bought is missing from your library, check that you are signed into the account that purchased it and contact Steam Support for account-specific help.
Which SEGA games were removed from Steam?
SEGA’s FAQ lists 62 Steam entries when bundles are counted, while contemporaneous coverage rounded the catalog to approximately 60 games. The official list below is the better reference for the titles; two entries are bundles rather than individual games. SEGA Support’s FAQ is the source for the Steam list, and LOS40’s November 2024 report used the approximate figure.

Did the same games disappear from every storefront?
No. SEGA’s notice describes separate lists for Steam, Xbox, Nintendo Switch, and PlayStation. The Steam catalog is the long list above; the FAQ names SEGA Mega Drive Classics for Nintendo Switch and PlayStation, and gives Xbox its own selection. The Steam list should not be treated as a list of titles removed from every platform. Check the SEGA FAQ for the storefront-specific entries.
Why did SEGA delist the games?
SEGA did not state a reason in the cited announcement or support FAQ. Suggestions about licensing, a replacement collection, or another future release are not established explanations and should not be treated as SEGA’s stated motive.

Is there another way to play some of these classics?
SEGA’s Genesis Mini is a separate plug-and-play console with two wired controllers and a preloaded selection of Genesis games. Its official product page lists 40 games plus two bonus titles, including some names that also appear on the Steam delisting list, such as Altered Beast, Columns, Comix Zone, Ecco the Dolphin, Golden Axe, and Streets of Rage 2. This is not a way to buy or restore the delisted Steam releases; check the product page and current retailer listings for availability. SEGA Genesis Mini.
