You do not need to preorder the Nintendo Switch 2 itself: Nintendo launched the console in the United States on June 5, 2025. Walmart’s catalog showed the console and a console bundle as current products in the catalog snapshot dated October 8, 2026, while preorder labels applied to some separate games and accessories. Check the exact listing and checkout details before ordering; availability, prices, and delivery estimates can change.
Is the Nintendo Switch 2 still a preorder at Walmart?
No. Nintendo announced the US launch for June 5, 2025, and Walmart’s Switch 2 catalog showed the console and console bundle as current products in the October 8, 2026 snapshot. Some future games or accessories may carry preorder labels, but that does not mean the console itself is still on preorder. Open the specific product page to confirm its current status.

Nintendo president Shuntaro Furukawa described the system as “the next step in at-home gaming that can be taken on the go based on eight years of play and discovery that began with Nintendo Switch.” That captures the console’s hybrid premise, but it is not a reason to assume Walmart is the best place to buy it.
What did Nintendo announce about the launch prices?
Nintendo’s April 2, 2025 launch announcement gave US suggested retail prices of $449.99 for the console and $499.99 for the Nintendo Switch 2 + Mario Kart World bundle. The bundle announcement included the system and a download code for Mario Kart World. These are historical launch-announcement prices, not confirmation of Walmart’s current prices or of the bundle’s present availability or contents.

What should you check before buying from Walmart?
Compare the exact order you can place now—not just a category-page label or a headline price. Before checkout, verify:
- Current price: Check the amount shown at checkout, including any applicable charges displayed there.
- Seller: Confirm whether the item is sold by Walmart or by a marketplace seller.
- Stock and timing: Check the item’s live availability and the estimated delivery or pickup date for your location.
- Bundle contents: Read the listing to see exactly what is included, including whether any game is digital and whether a membership is part of the offer.
- Return terms: Review the terms shown for that item and seller before placing the order.
The catalog and bundle listings do not establish a Walmart-exclusive price, a guaranteed delivery advantage, or another categorical reason to choose Walmart over other retailers. To decide where to buy, compare these same details across the options available to you.

Is Walmart’s Nintendo Switch Sports Resort bundle worth considering?
Walmart lists a Nintendo Switch 2 + Nintendo Switch Sports Resort bundle. The listing describes the game as digital, includes a three-month Nintendo Switch Online Individual Membership, and states savings of $27.98 against the stated component value. That savings figure is a time-sensitive listing claim, not a guaranteed or permanent discount. Confirm the live price, contents, and offer terms on the product page before treating it as a deal.

A preorder is relevant when the specific game or accessory you want has not yet been released. Walmart’s Nintendo brand page can include those separate products alongside current console listings. Check the release information, seller, and estimated fulfillment date on the individual item page; a preorder label on an accessory, for example, says nothing about whether the console is available to order.
