The reported $20 discount on Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition was a February 19, 2026 deal—not a confirmed current offer. The Verge reported the Nintendo Switch game at $39.99, down from $59.99, at Amazon and GameStop, plus a $4.99 Switch 2 upgrade pack for owners. Those prices are historical; check current listings before buying.
What the $20-off headline means
The $20 saving was the difference between the reported $59.99 regular price and $39.99 sale price for the Nintendo Switch game. The Verge’s February 19, 2026 report named Amazon and GameStop for the digital game at $39.99 and said the physical version was also discounted, but did not give a physical-copy price. The article does not establish that either format is still discounted or in stock. The Verge’s deal report, syndicated by AIVAnet, is a dated price reference, not a live quote.

Which version should you buy?
Choose based on whether you already own the Switch game, the current combined price, your preferred format, and whether you want the Switch 2 enhancements. Compare live listings for the base game plus upgrade pack against the Switch 2 Edition bundle; the February deal arithmetic cannot establish which option is cheaper today.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteYou already own the Nintendo Switch game
Buy the digital Switch 2 Edition Upgrade Pack if you want the Switch 2 features. Nintendo says the pack adds those features to the Definitive Edition you already own, and the full game is required to use the content. The $4.99 figure reported for the pack applies to the February 19, 2026 deal coverage; it is not a verified current price.

- Rebuild humanity on the mysterious planet Mira in this action RPG that’s been enhanced for the Nintendo Switch 2 system
You do not own the game and want Switch 2 play
Nintendo describes the Switch 2 Edition as including both the Nintendo Switch game and the upgrade pack. Nintendo lists smoother framerate and 4K resolution in TV mode as features. Those are Nintendo’s claims; no independent performance test is established here. Nintendo announced the edition and upgrade pack as available on February 19, 2026, which confirms their launch availability, not current stock at any retailer. See Nintendo’s launch announcement.
You want to buy the discounted Switch game and upgrade it
During the reported February sale, the suggested calculation was $39.99 for the Switch game plus $4.99 for the upgrade pack. That was a historical total of $44.98 before any applicable taxes, not a current price comparison. Today, add the live prices for the two separate purchases and compare that sum with the Switch 2 Edition bundle. The physical Switch 2 Edition is a separate option listed by Nintendo; do not assume its current price or availability from the old deal report.

How to upgrade an existing copy
Nintendo provides instructions for upgrading eligible Nintendo Switch software to a Switch 2 Edition. Follow its current steps for your game and account in Nintendo Support’s upgrade guide. The upgrade pack is digital content, not a physical game copy; you need the full Nintendo Switch game to use it.
