The deadline should not be treated as a single precisely established cutoff. The giveaway archive records Sifu as free from December 31, 2024, through January 7, 2025. PC Gamer’s listing confirms the December 31 game, while contemporaneous coverage by GameThroughs described an approximately one-day offer ending January 1. Without an official archived notice resolving the discrepancy, the safest conclusion is that the game became free on December 31 and the claim window was short.
What is Sifu?
Sifu is a Windows action game developed and published by Sloclap, released on February 8, 2022, according to its Epic listing. Its story follows a fighter seeking revenge on the people who killed their family. A magical amulet revives the protagonist after defeat, but each revival makes them older.

How the combat works
Combat centers on learning enemy patterns and using Pak-Mei Kung Fu techniques. Players combine strikes, dodges, parries and combos, while positioning, weapons and objects in the environment can shape a fight. Practice unlocks skills, making progression depend in part on learning how to handle encounters more effectively.
Epic’s current Windows listing: price and requirements
Epic’s US product page displayed the base game for $39.99 when checked on October 8, 2026. That is a dated storefront snapshot, not evidence of the game’s regular price during the 2024 giveaway or of prices in other regions. The listing requires an Epic ID login.

- You are free to pick your fights against the Kami in any order. The game features a dynamic difficulty system where each enemy strength is defined by the player’s chosen path. This means that the very same Kami fought at the very beginning could also be the final boss in a different route. Hope to never leave the one you struggle most to fight last!

- You will get to know the different Kami quite well. When Rei defeats them, she absorbs their power and their personality. The defeated Kami will be carried around wherever Rei goes, and they’ll surely have stuff to talk about. Sometimes their remarks will be useful information that builds the player’s understanding of the lore and the game mechanics, but sometimes they will be... not so helpful, to put it briefly.
