Yes—SignalRGB built a functioning gaming computer inside a gutted, four-slot kitchen toaster in July 2025. It runs PC games, drives two front LCD screens, and synchronizes RGB lighting through SignalRGB software. It is not a toaster in the culinary sense: the shell was emptied of its original hardware, an RGB fan blocks two bread slots, and the reports do not describe any working heating elements. The project is best understood as a one-off Mini-ITX gaming PC with an appliance shell, custom controls and a deliberately theatrical front panel, not as a product you can buy or a device that makes breakfast.

What exactly did SignalRGB build?

SignalRGB converted a real four-slot toaster into a complete desktop computer. The company removed the toaster’s internal mechanism, installed PC components in the remaining volume, and retained the outside shell so the finished machine still looks like kitchen hardware. Tom’s Hardware and Appuals describe a working Windows-style gaming system rather than a static prop: it boots, runs games, controls lighting and presents information on integrated displays.

The distinction between “working toaster PC” and “working toaster” matters. The computing functions are real, but the appliance function is gone. An RGB fan occupies enough space to block two of the four bread openings, and the published reports do not claim that any slot can heat or brown bread.

SignalRGB summarized the intent this way in a statement reproduced by Tom’s Hardware: “This isn’t some half-baked idea – we gutted a real toaster and crammed a legitimate gaming setup inside. It’s got dual LCD screens, a stream deck, and full RGB lighting that all works through SignalRGB software.”

What hardware is inside the SignalRGB toaster PC?

The build uses mainstream desktop-class parts on a Mini-ITX platform. The reports identify the processor, graphics card, memory, power supply and storage, while leaving some exact stock-keeping-unit details unspecified.

Part Reported specification Qualification
CPU Intel Core i5-14600K Named by Tom’s Hardware and Appuals
GPU GeForce RTX 5060 Reports identify the RTX 5060; the exact board model is not stated consistently
Motherboard Z790-I Mini-ITX Mini-ITX form factor is central to fitting the board inside the toaster shell
Memory 32 GB DDR5 Appuals reports a 6000 MT/s kit; the exact kit capacity arrangement is not stated
Power supply 850 W SFX Compact SFX format; the reports do not publish a measured system draw
Storage 1 TB WD Black NVMe SSD Drive family is named, but no complete model number is provided
External connectivity USB-A extension to an external hub Appuals reports no direct I/O on the computer’s accessible exterior

Tom’s Hardware also names component makers including Zotac, G.Skill Trident Z, Cooler Master and WD Black. Those references identify the brands used in the reported build, not a complete parts list for a retail configuration. Exact cooler, cable-routing and expansion details are not published, so they should not be inferred from photographs.

How do the toaster controls and displays work?

SignalRGB turned the toaster’s physical affordances into computer controls instead of discarding them. The original ejection levers now act as power and restart controls, giving the front of the machine a mechanical interface that matches its shell.

Repurposed levers

One lever is assigned to powering the computer and another to restarting it, according to the reports. They are switches for the PC, not controls for heating coils or timed browning.

Dual LCD front panel

Two LCD screens are mounted on the front. They form part of the visual presentation and are managed alongside the lighting through SignalRGB software. The reports do not specify panel sizes, resolutions, refresh rates or the exact dashboards shown, so those specifications remain unstated.

Integrated Stream Deck

An actual Stream Deck is built into the front interface. It provides programmable buttons in a space where a toaster’s controls would normally sit, while the displays and RGB elements make the computer’s status visible. No button map or software profile is published, so the precise actions assigned to each key cannot be confirmed.

Does the SignalRGB toaster actually make toast?

No. It is a gaming PC in a toaster shell, not a dual-purpose kitchen appliance. The shell was gutted, and Tom’s Hardware specifically notes that an RGB fan blocks two of the four bread slots. Neither detailed report describes functioning heating elements, a thermostat or a safe food-preparation mode.

Calling it a “working toaster PC” therefore refers to the computer working. The phrase does not mean that the modified appliance can toast bread while a game is running. The remaining openings should be treated as part of the enclosure’s visual design and airflow path, not as usable kitchen slots.

Why did SignalRGB build it, and how does Razer’s Project Breadwinner fit in?

The project responds to a long-running toaster joke from Razer. Tom’s Hardware traces Project Breadwinner to a 2013 Facebook joke, a 2016 April Fools project and a challenge tied to public interest. In the account, Razer CEO Min-Liang Tan set a threshold of one million Facebook likes; each toaster tattoo counted as 100,000 likes. At least 12 people reportedly received Razer toaster tattoos.

Tom’s Hardware says Razer’s concept had no reported updates after 2019 in its timeline. SignalRGB’s 2025 build uses that delayed idea as a prompt, but it is a separate project: SignalRGB produced a functioning computer, whereas the earlier concept was presented as a branded toaster idea whose later status was unclear.

The reference explains the theatrical design choices. A toaster-shaped computer is instantly recognizable, and physical levers, glowing lighting and front screens make the joke legible without pretending that the machine is still an appliance.

How does the internal layout handle space and airflow?

Fitting desktop hardware into a toaster shell creates constraints that a conventional Mini-ITX case is designed to avoid. The reports mention side perforations and internal fans to move air around the components. The RGB fan visible in the build also occupies two bread slots, showing how the enclosure’s original openings were sacrificed for cooling clearance.

The 850 W SFX power supply is physically shorter than a typical ATX unit, which is appropriate for a cramped enclosure, but the published accounts do not provide temperature readings, fan curves, acoustic measurements or sustained-load testing. There is no verified thermal benchmark to show how the machine behaves during a long gaming session. Photographs and component names establish the layout; they do not establish a performance envelope.

Airflow should therefore be understood as a design requirement, not a proven test result. The side perforations and fans are reported features, while their effectiveness under a specific game, ambient temperature or orientation has not been measured publicly.

How are power, ports and accessories handled?

The compact enclosure leaves little room for conventional rear-panel access. Appuals reports that the computer has no direct I/O exposed on the toaster itself and uses a USB-A extension connected to an external hub. In practical terms, peripherals and displays need to connect through that external arrangement rather than through a normal motherboard I/O shield that is easy to reach.

SignalRGB reportedly bundled a 10-port Thunderbolt 4 dock with the one-off system. The dock expands the number of accessible connections outside the toaster and makes the unusual enclosure more usable at a desk. The reports describe this as part of a 2025 giveaway, not as a standard accessory sold with a product line.

What software runs the lighting and front-panel presentation?

SignalRGB software controls the build’s RGB lighting and the integrated displays and lighting presentation. That software layer is what turns the illuminated fan, internal components and front screens into a coordinated visual system instead of separate effects.

The reports do not list a custom operating-system image, game launcher, display widgets or a downloadable profile. They establish that lighting and display integration work through SignalRGB, but they do not document every software setting or a reusable configuration for other PCs.

How powerful is it for gaming?

The parts list is clearly that of a modern gaming desktop: a Core i5-14600K, RTX 5060, 32 GB of DDR5 and NVMe storage. That tells you the machine is not a low-power novelty computer. It does not, however, tell you a verified frame rate for a particular game or resolution.

No source in the published accounts provides gaming benchmarks, frame-time graphs, thermal measurements, power-draw figures or a list of tested titles. It would be inaccurate to promise a specific frame rate, resolution target or ray-tracing setting. The defensible conclusion is narrower: SignalRGB assembled a legitimate gaming-capable platform, while the available reports do not quantify its performance inside the toaster enclosure.

Was the toaster PC available to buy or win?

The system is described as a one-off build associated with a 2025 giveaway, not a mass-produced case or retail computer. The reported prize package included the toaster PC and a 10-port Thunderbolt 4 dock. No current closing date or continuing entry window is established, so readers in 2026 should not assume that the giveaway remains open.

There is also no published retail price for the complete machine. Component costs, labor, shell modification and the custom front-panel work are not separated in the reports, making a reliable build-price estimate impossible from the available information.

How should you compare this with other novelty or small-form-factor PCs?

Use the following questions rather than treating a toaster-shaped enclosure as a performance specification.

Comparison axis What to check SignalRGB build
Computing versus appliance function Does the enclosure still perform its original household task? Gaming computer works; toasting function does not
Internal volume and airflow Where do fans, vents and heat-producing parts fit? Side perforations and internal fans; an RGB fan blocks two bread slots
Component class Desktop, laptop or embedded hardware? Core i5-14600K, RTX 5060, Mini-ITX board, 32 GB DDR5
External I/O Can you reach standard ports without disassembly? No direct I/O reported; USB-A extension and external hub used
Controls and displays Are unusual physical controls functional or decorative? Toaster levers control power and restart; two LCDs and a Stream Deck are integrated
Lighting and software Are lighting effects coordinated by supported software? RGB and display presentation run through SignalRGB
Availability Can a reader purchase a finished unit? Reported as a one-off 2025 giveaway, not a regular product

What is the practical verdict on the SignalRGB toaster PC?

SignalRGB achieved the part of the stunt that matters technically: the toaster shell contains a real, modern gaming computer with working controls, displays and synchronized RGB lighting. Its limitations are equally clear. The toaster no longer makes toast, two slots are obstructed by cooling hardware, exterior connectivity is awkward, and no published benchmark proves how fast or cool it runs under sustained gaming loads.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I buy the finished SignalRGB toaster PC?

The reports describe a one-off system connected to a 2025 giveaway, not a retail model with a listed price or ordering page. There is no established evidence of a production run or a current sales channel.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

How many of the toaster’s bread slots remain usable?

The published descriptions only establish that an RGB fan blocks two of the four slots. They do not certify any remaining slot for heating or food use, so none should be treated as a functioning toaster opening.

Can I copy the design with a different toaster shell?

A similar project would need a shell large enough for a Mini-ITX board, compact power supply, graphics card, storage and cooling, plus a safe way to route power and external ports. The SignalRGB build demonstrates the concept, but it does not publish a fabrication drawing, wiring diagram or tested parts recipe for a do-it-yourself replica.

What should I look for if a seller claims to offer a ‘working toaster PC’?

Ask whether “working” refers to the computer, the heating appliance or both, and request measured temperatures, power behavior and port details. A genuine comparison should also identify the exact motherboard, graphics-card model, cooling arrangement and whether the unit is a one-off custom build rather than a supported product.
