That is an early milestone, not the latest total: Konami later reported more than five million worldwide by January 31, 2026, using a broader count that includes store downloads and subscription services.
When did Silent Hill 2 remake reach one million?
The remake launched on PlayStation 5 and PC via Steam on October 8, 2024. Konami said it had sold a combined one million physical retail and digital copies by October 11. The publisher announced the milestone on October 17, describing it as a result reached in less than a week after launch. Konami’s announcement identifies Bloober Team as the developer and describes the game as a remake of the 2001 psychological horror title.

How the reported milestones compare
| Milestone | What Konami counted | Measurement date and announcement |
|---|---|---|
| 1 million | Combined physical retail and digital copies | By October 11, 2024; announced October 17, 2024 |
| More than 2 million | Worldwide package shipments and digital sales | As of January 23, 2025; announced January 29, 2025 |
| More than 5 million | Worldwide physical and digital sales, store downloads, and subscription services | As of January 31, 2026, according to Konami’s internal tracking; announced March 12, 2026 |
The two-million figure comes from Konami’s Japanese announcement. The later figure is in Konami’s March 2026 update, which names PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S as the platforms covered.
Why the five-million figure is not a like-for-like sales total
The one-million announcement specifically counts physical retail and digital copies, while the January 2025 update describes package shipments and digital sales. Konami’s January 2026 total has a broader basis: it also includes store downloads and subscription-service access. It should not be presented as five million paid sales or as a direct apples-to-apples comparison with the original one-million copies-sold milestone.

Konami’s update uses the phrase “units worldwide” and its headline refers to cumulative players, but the body specifies the components included in the figure. The available announcements do not provide a platform-by-platform or geography-by-geography breakdown, so they do not show how much of the total came from any one platform or region.
