What Silent Hope is
Nintendo’s official US store listing for the Switch version gives a release date of 3 October 2023, lists Marvelous Inc. as developer and Marvelous (XSEED) as publisher, labels the game for one player, and shows a file size of 1.9 GB. The listing describes seven heroes with distinct fighting styles, an Abyss to explore, and a base camp where characters take on jobs such as alchemy, blacksmithing, and cooking.

Why one writer calls it underrated
The “most underrated” label comes from a single opinion piece by Tom’s Guide author Millie Davis-Williams, published 8 October 2026. She wrote: “This RPG deserves way more love, because it’s one of the most enjoyably addictive Nintendo Switch games I’ve ever played.” That is an enthusiastic personal verdict, not a ranking. No sales figures, review-score averages, or audience studies were found that would test whether the game is under-appreciated compared with other Switch releases, so the claim cannot be measured.
How the game plays
The core loop, as the Tom’s Guide piece describes it, alternates between descents into the Abyss and returns to the surface, with a choice at each stage to push deeper or head back.

Repeated descents into the Abyss
Each run puts you against monsters and bosses. The writer describes the decision to keep going or retreat as the main tension, since a deeper run pays off but risks the party.
Seven heroes and their upkeep
You switch among seven heroes in combat. Each has its own abilities and attack cooldowns, and learning them is part of the appeal. The same variety creates work: the writer warns that managing equipment across seven characters can feel burdensome.

The base camp loop
Between expeditions, the base camp is where you craft weapons and armor and prepare food that grants stat buffs. The preparation step is what connects one run to the next, and it is also where the writer finds the inventory management most demanding.
Strengths and drawbacks, as reported
- Praised: the combat-and-progression loop, the seven-hero system, and the story.
- Criticized: enemy variety can feel repetitive over long sessions.
- Criticized: equipment management across seven characters can be tedious.
These points come from one reviewer’s play experience, not from controlled testing or a broad sample of players.

- Open Nintendo’s US store and search for “Silent Hope.” Note the digital price shown on the product page, and confirm the region and currency.
- Search Walmart for “Silent Hope Nintendo Switch.” Compare the current price with any “was” price, and confirm whether Walmart is the seller or a third party.
- Search Amazon for “Silent Hope Nintendo Switch.” Check the seller, condition (new or used), and the price shown at checkout rather than in search results.
- If a listing is for a different region or a non-US store, treat its price as a separate offer; the figures above are US-dollar prices.
Physical or digital
Marvelous’s release announcement of 21 June 2023 said a physical standard edition was planned for Switch, with digital versions sold through the Nintendo eShop and Steam. That announcement confirms the planned formats at the time. It does not establish what is in stock today, so the storefront check above is the way to confirm availability.
The Bottom Line
Silent Hope is a real Switch action RPG with an enthusiastic advocate and a loop of Abyss descents, seven heroes, and base-camp crafting. Whether it is the most underrated Switch game is an opinion. The $21 price was a reported deal on 8 October 2026, so confirm the current price on the retailer’s page before you buy.
