Silk Soar is an Act 3 Ancestral Art found in Weavenest Absolom in the Abyss. Hold Down + Harpoon to charge, then release to throw Hornet’s Needle upward and launch toward a ceiling. Each use costs one strand of Silk.
Where to unlock Silk Soar
Silk Soar is acquired in Weavenest Absolom, in the Abyss, on Hornet’s first visit there. The area is reached through a Needolin door, and the ability is available in Act 3. PC Gamer connects the unlock to The Dark Below quest, which provides useful quest context without establishing every prerequisite or a fully verified route.

For a general walkthrough, head to the Abyss during Act 3 and look for Weavenest Absolom. Another guide describes a different approach through an altar and chamber; because that route conflicts with the named Weavenest Absolom/Needolin-door account, the precise approach is not settled here.
How to use Silk Soar
- Make sure your Silk spool has at least one strand available.
- Hold Down + Harpoon to charge the move. The Hollow Knight Wiki’s ability page says charging takes about a second; releasing early cancels without spending Silk.
- Release to throw the Needle upward. When it hits the nearest ceiling, Hornet launches toward it.
The flight can be cancelled with Jump, Attack, or Harpoon, or interrupted by taking a hit, according to the Hollow Knight Wiki’s Silk Soar reference. The move is for vertical traversal: it can help reach elevated routes, but a high-looking surface is not necessarily reachable.

Default Silk Soar controls by platform
The input is based on the Harpoon action, so use your remapped Harpoon binding if you changed the controls. These are the default mappings listed by the Hollow Knight Wiki’s controls reference:

Silk cost and practical tips
Silk Soar uses one strand of Silk per use. The game’s combat reference says striking enemies with the Needle is the primary way to obtain Silk. Before committing to a long traversal, check that you have a strand available.
