Speak to them to start the Roach Guts Wish, which sends Hornet after Muckroaches and rewards the Tacks tool. Later, while Infestation Operation is active, they sell Steel Spines; if you reach Act 3 without either item, you may be able to take the unclaimed gear from their bodies.
Where to find Crull and Benjin
The pair’s hut is in Sinner’s Road. For a route, PC Gamer’s September 2025 walkthrough says to begin at the Sinner’s Road bench, cross the shaft to the right into the room with hanging cages and worm pits, then climb toward the upper-right corner. These are guide-reported landmarks; progression or item states may vary with game updates.

How to get the Tacks tool
Talk to Crull and Benjin to begin the Roach Guts Hunt Wish. The task is to hunt Muckroaches in Sinner’s Road and collect Roach Guts. Completing the Wish earns the Tacks tool.

When and where to get Steel Spines
Crull and Benjin sell Steel Spines while the Infestation Operation Wish is active. PC Gamer’s September 2025 walkthrough reports a price of 260 Rosaries. Treat that figure as guide-reported, rather than a universal price; the NPC listing confirms the sale but does not state the amount.

In Act 3, Crull and Benjin’s bodies can be found crushed under debris. The Hollow Knight Wiki and PC Gamer walkthrough report that Hornet can take Tacks or Steel Spines from them for free if those items were not obtained earlier. This is a fallback for unclaimed gear, not an alternative reward to pursue if you already have the item.
