Where to find the Green Prince
Free him in Sinner’s Road
The Green Prince first appears locked in a cage in Sinner’s Road. Open it with a Simple Key. Nintendo Life’s walkthrough reports that a key can be found nearby by defeating a Roachkeeper; the Hollow Knight Wiki also confirms the cage and key requirement. Nintendo Life’s Green Prince guide and the Hollow Knight Wiki entry describe this early encounter.
Meet him again around the Citadel
After his release, the Prince moves to a hallway west of Citadel Spa. Clear the enemy gauntlet in that hallway to reach him. Later, he appears by the Cogwork Dancers arena. The precise progression can depend on whether you have visited Songclave and seen him near the Spa, or whether Act 3 has begun. Nintendo Life also describes encounters in the lower-left Choral Chambers by the baths and in the Cogwork Duo room.
Find him beside Craw Lake in Act 3
Once Act 3 is underway, go to the east side of Craw Lake in Greymoor. The Prince is beside the remains of the Cogwork Dancers. Speak to him there to open the route into his memory.

How to enter Lost Verdania
Play the Elegy of the Deep beside the Green Prince. Hornet will enter Lost Verdania, a memory of the kingdom in its prime. The palace encounter is gated behind 12 memory orbs, so collect those before heading to the throne room. The Hollow Knight Wiki’s Verdania guide details the area’s memory-orb content.
12 orbs open the palace route; 17 reveal more
There are 17 memory orbs in total: seven from breakable objects, five from the Palestag, and five from the Sacred Shrine. The 12-orb threshold opens the palace route. Collecting all 17 also unlocks an additional lore tablet. You do not need all 17 to reach the boss.

Lost Verdania becomes inaccessible after you defeat the Clover Dancers, according to the Hollow Knight Wiki’s Clover Dancers entry. If you want the optional lore or Palestag content, finish exploring and collect the orbs before completing the fight.
What the Green Prince’s fight is like
In the throne room, the Green Prince challenges Hornet alongside the phantom memory of his partner. The encounter is called the Clover Dancers: two dancers attack together, but only the Prince can take damage. Keep your target on him while watching both bodies, since their paired patterns resemble the Cogwork Dancers’ attacks. The fight has two phases.

The wiki’s attack names are mostly non-canon labels, not confirmed in-game terminology. The available guides establish the target distinction and broad pattern, but do not establish a mandatory build, tool, or precise move-by-move strategy.
Why the Green Prince and his partner appear together
The Green Prince was Verdania’s ruler. His partner surrendered shell and soul to the Citadel as the basis for the Cogwork Dancers, hoping to save the kingdom, but Verdania fell. Lost Verdania shows the Prince’s memory of their past; the Clover Dancers represent the two of them fighting together in their finest form.

A mural in Lost Verdania recounts their bond:
“Two children born entwined, apart,
Two children marked to rule,
They danced, they sang, proved blades beyond,
But none forgot their birth,
For lovers born on beat exact shall be forever cursed.”
After the fight, the Prince is found dead beside the Cogwork Dancer remains. Returning with the Everbloom causes clovers to grow around them—a story detail, not another combat reward.
Best Value
What you get for defeating the Clover Dancers
The fight grants the Conjoined Heart. It can substitute for one of the other Old Hearts for the SEEK: The Old Hearts objective. If it is the last heart you need, you can instead keep it in Hornet’s Bellhome as a memento.
A secondary boss guide also lists a Hunter’s Journal entry and the “Lamenter” achievement, but the Hollow Knight Wiki passage confirming the reward does not verify those extras. Treat them as guide-reported details rather than established rewards.
