When was Slay the Spire 2 announced?
Mega Crit announced Slay the Spire 2 on April 15, 2024. The studio confirmed it was making a sequel to Slay the Spire, shared a Steam store page with screenshots and information, and initially targeted Early Access in 2025. That was a target, not the eventual release date.

What did the first gameplay reveal show?
On December 12, 2024, Mega Crit said the first gameplay trailer had been revealed earlier that day at The Game Awards. The announcement described a newly evolved Spire, new and returning characters, and new cards, relics, and potions. The story was therefore more than a set of initial screenshots: the studio confirmed a gameplay trailer reveal.

Is Slay the Spire 2 out now?
Yes. Slay the Spire 2 became available on Steam Early Access on March 5, 2026. The original 2025 target changed; the actual release is the March 2026 Early Access launch. The current Steam listing describes it as a roguelike deckbuilder with solo play and online co-op for up to four players.
Early Access means the game is still evolving rather than being presented as complete. Mega Crit says it plans to add and balance more content, and Steam warns that Early Access games may be incomplete and change over time. Check the Steam store page for the current listing and purchase details.

The practical decision is whether the available platform and evolving state of the game suit you. It is currently listed for Steam on PC, macOS, and Linux, with Steam Deck compatibility. If you want a finished game, bear in mind that Mega Crit plans further content and balance changes and Steam cautions that Early Access titles can change. If you want to play with friends, co-op is available for Steam friends, but not through matchmaking.
