What happened to the 2025 launch date?
Mega Crit announced Slay the Spire 2 on April 15, 2024, with a 2025 Steam Early Access target. That was an intended window, not a firm launch date: the announcement said the game would remain unavailable until the studio chose a suitable launch window. Mega Crit’s original announcement
On September 11, 2025, the studio revised the plan to an unspecified Thursday in March 2026. Mega Crit said it had originally aimed for late 2025 but needed more time to polish the game to its standards. Where can you play Slay the Spire 2?
At Early Access launch, Slay the Spire 2 was available through Steam for PC, macOS, and Linux. Mega Crit’s FAQ also lists Steam Deck as compatible. These are the platforms the studio identifies for the current Early Access version; it has not announced a dated console or mobile release.
Mega Crit says console and mobile versions are likely to arrive after Early Access. That is the studio’s expectation, not a confirmed schedule. Check the official FAQ for the latest platform information.
Does Slay the Spire 2 have co-op?
Yes. You can play alone or team up online with as many as three other players, for a maximum party of four. The co-op mode includes multiplayer-specific cards and team synergies, according to Mega Crit’s launch announcement.
There is no matchmaking system: the FAQ says online co-op is limited to Steam friends. Players looking to join a public queue should not assume one is available.

What does Early Access include, and what is still planned?
Mega Crit describes the game as a roguelike deckbuilder featuring new and returning characters, cards, relics, potions, environments, enemies, and events. Early Access gives the studio time to gather player feedback, balance content, improve quality of life and stability, and test experimental ideas.
The developer plans to add more content during Early Access, including cards, events, environments, and enemies. Its Steam Early Access description says the planned full version is also expected to include a true ending, game modes, balance improvements, bug fixes, broader hardware compatibility, visual effects, and additional languages. How long will Early Access last?
Mega Crit estimates Early Access could last one to two years, but says the endpoint depends on when the game feels ready. That estimate is not a scheduled end date. The studio’s stated aim is to use the period to develop and refine the game with player feedback.
What does it cost?
Mega Crit’s FAQ listed the US price as $24.99, with regional prices varying, when accessed on October 8, 2026. Prices can change, so check the live Steam listing for the current price in your region. The studio says the price will increase after Early Access; it has not specified the later price in the cited Steam description.
