What is teamLFG?
teamLFG is a PlayStation Studios team Sony introduced on May 7, 2025. Sony Interactive Entertainment Studio Business Group CEO Hermen Hulst said it originated at Bungie and had also brought in developers from across the industry to work on an ambitious incubation project. Sony described the team as fully formed at the time of the announcement.
The studio said its headquarters is in Bellevue, Washington, in the Seattle area. Its team works both on-site and remotely across the United States and Canada. teamLFG also cited experience shipping games including Destiny, Halo, League of Legends, Fortnite, Roblox, and Rec Room. Sony’s announcement provides the studio’s account of its origins, location, and team background.
What does LFG mean?
teamLFG says “LFG” stands for “Looking For Group,” a familiar phrase in multiplayer gaming for finding other people to play with. The studio connects that name to its stated aim: building multiplayer worlds where players can form friendships and communities.

What game is teamLFG making?
The studio has described its first project only in broad terms: an unnamed team-based action game drawing inspiration from several genres and set in a lighthearted, comedic mythic science-fantasy universe. The announcement does not provide a game title or release date.

“Frog-type games” is teamLFG’s own wording. The studio did not explain what it means, so it is not possible to infer a specific genre, mechanic, or game from that phrase. The studio’s announcement does not give further details about how the influences will shape the game.

How does teamLFG want players involved?
teamLFG says it wants to build games with their communities and invite players into development through early-access playtests. It also describes community feedback as part of its approach to development and live service. That is a stated intention, not a published playtest schedule or a guarantee that access is currently available; the announcement gives no dates or eligibility details.

GeekWire’s same-day report also identified Bellevue as the studio’s base and described the project as an unnamed multiplayer action game. Its characterization of “frog-type games” as puzzling is commentary, not an official explanation of the phrase.
