If you searched for “Splitgate 2 crashing on PS5,” the game is now listed as SPLITGATE: Arena Reloaded. Try restarting your PS5, checking for system software updates, and reinstalling the game first. If it still crashes or will not start, follow PlayStation’s license, storage, and Safe Mode steps below. These are official troubleshooting steps, not a guaranteed fix for every console or crash.
Why is Splitgate 2 called Arena Reloaded?
1047 Games says SPLITGATE: Arena Reloaded is an evolution of Splitgate 2. The existing Splitgate 2 application updated to become Arena Reloaded at its launch on December 17, 2025. So if you are looking up “how to fix Splitgate 2 crashing on PS5” or “Splitgate 2 keeps crashing PS5,” you are troubleshooting the current Arena Reloaded app, not a separate replacement download. Try these first: restart, update, and reinstall
- Restart the PS5. Restart the console, then launch the game again. Both 1047 Games and PlayStation include restarting among their recommended first steps for console game problems. 1047 Games’ console troubleshooting · PlayStation’s game-start troubleshooting.
- Check for PS5 system software updates. Install any available update and try the game again. The PlayStation Store listing also notes that current system software may be required for PS5. View the PlayStation Store listing.
- Reinstall the game. From the PS5 Home menu, highlight SPLITGATE: Arena Reloaded, press the Options button, and choose Delete. If the crash continues: follow PlayStation’s next checks
Restore licenses
Use PlayStation’s restore-licenses step in its official game-start troubleshooting flow. Follow the current instructions on PlayStation’s support page, since console menus can change.
Move the game to internal storage if it is on USB extended storage
PlayStation recommends moving a game from USB extended storage to the PS5’s internal storage when troubleshooting startup problems. This is a conditional step for games installed on USB storage; it is not evidence that buying a storage drive will fix crashes.

Use Safe Mode options only after the simpler steps
PlayStation also lists clearing the cache and rebuilding the database through Safe Mode. Treat these as later troubleshooting options if restarting, updating, reinstalling, and the other relevant checks have not helped. Its guidance also includes reinstalling system software after backing up data; that is a broader escalation, not a first step for one game. Follow the precautions and instructions on PlayStation’s official page.
Is a network problem causing the crash?
Not necessarily. 1047 Games’ December 19, 2025 hotfix added a notice for unavailable network services because that condition had previously resulted in a crash. The note does not establish that network services explain all PS5 crashes, or that the hotfix resolves every current crash. Read the 12/19 Hotfix notes.

For symptoms such as disconnects, high ping, or packet loss, 1047 Games separately recommends checking service status, power cycling the router, or trying Ethernet. Those are network troubleshooting steps; the official guidance does not establish Ethernet as a fix for an application that crashes or fails to start. See 1047 Games’ console troubleshooting.

If the game still crashes after the relevant steps, contact PlayStation Support. Include the error code, a clear description of what happened, and the steps that reproduce it. A screenshot or video can also help support understand the failure.

- Note whether the crash happens at launch, during a match, or at another repeatable point.
- Record any on-screen error code or message.
- Describe which troubleshooting steps you have already tried.
The official troubleshooting pages do not identify one universal cause for Arena Reloaded crashing on PS5, and they do not provide a crash rate or affected-player count. The appropriate next step depends on the symptom and what you have already checked.
