Splitgate 2’s highest recorded Steam concurrent-player count was about 38% of the original Splitgate’s peak—but that compares two all-time highs recorded nearly four years apart, not their audiences at the same moment. Steam Charts lists 25,674 concurrent players for the successor in June 2025; SteamDB records 67,724 for the original on August 8, 2021. Dividing those figures gives about 37.9%.
What the 38% comparison measures
The percentage compares historical concurrent-player peaks on Steam: the largest number of people playing at the same time that each listing recorded. It does not compare monthly averages, current live counts, unique players over a period, or total audiences across platforms.
The dates matter. The original Splitgate peak came during its 2021 history; the successor’s cited high came in June 2025. A peak from one date cannot show how the two games performed against each other at the same point in time.

The successor figures differ slightly between chart providers. Using Steam Charts’ 25,674 and SteamDB’s original-game figure of 67,724 produces about 37.9%. Using SteamDB’s 25,785 successor figure produces about 38.1%. The percentage is a calculation from the cited peaks, not a statistic published by either chart site.

Which game is the successor figure for?
The current Steam chart identity is SPLITGATE: Arena Reloaded. SteamDB describes it as combining Splitgate 1 and Splitgate 2, and lists 1047 Games as its developer and publisher. The successor’s peak should therefore be understood as a figure for that reworked listing, rather than as an independent measure of every version or platform experience associated with Splitgate 2.
There was a significant change in the game’s timeline: in a July 22, 2025 community announcement, 1047 Games said it had “launched too early” and announced a return to beta to rebuild major parts of Splitgate 2. The same community news page says the original Splitgate would begin moving from dedicated servers to peer-to-peer hosting on August 29, 2025. This provides context about the games’ changing state, but does not establish why their peak counts differ.

What Steam counts leave out
Steam concurrent-player charts track activity on Steam, not a game’s complete audience. They do not establish how many people were playing on consoles or other PC stores, nor do they reveal unique players over time. Valve’s Steam statistics page reports overall concurrent Steam users and a game-level ranking snapshot; neither is a census of a title’s total player base.
1047 Games has also argued that Steam Charts “don’t measure fun” and “show one number, on one platform, at one given moment.” GamesRadar’s report attributes that wording to the developer’s public “Steam Charts Conversations” post. It is the developer’s position on the limits of the charts, not independent evidence of the games’ total populations.

How to read the comparison fairly
- Metric: These are concurrent peaks, not average or current player counts.
- Time window: The original high is dated August 8, 2021; the successor’s cited Steam Charts high is from June 2025.
- Coverage: The figures are Steam-only.
- Listing: The successor figure belongs to the reworked Arena Reloaded listing.
- Source: Steam Charts and SteamDB report slightly different successor peaks, so keep each number attributed to its provider.
So the defensible shorthand is that the successor’s recorded Steam peak was about 38% of the original’s recorded Steam peak. It is not evidence that the successor had 38% as many total players, retained 38% of the original’s audience, or was less popular across every platform.
