How to rescue Gloomy
- Travel from the Post Office to the Boiler House.
- Deal with the bandits inside. Use the available cover rather than rushing in unprepared.
- Go upstairs to find Gloomy and complete the rescue.
The rescue is not required for main-quest progress. One guide reports that skipping it may lead to the Post Office group dying, but that outcome is not established as guaranteed.
Should you save Gloomy?
Rescuing Gloomy completes the side mission and leads to a reported reward choice. Skip it if you only want to advance the main quest; choose the rescue if you want the opportunity to claim a detector or pursue the stash information.

Where to find Zhorik’s stash
Zhorik’s optional stash is associated with a crashed helicopter. Use the in-game map marker because guide descriptions of the direction vary. Guides warn of radiation and blind dogs near the location. The reported contents include a full-durability Viper-5, supplies, and ammunition; the exact contents may vary.

After rescuing Gloomy, guides report that you can take an Echo Detector or decline it to learn the location of Gloomy’s stash. The detector is a reusable exploration aid; the information points toward additional loot. Which is more useful depends on whether you value an exploration tool or another stash run.
