You can buy Star Citizen ships in two main places: the RSI Pledge Store with a pledge, or in game from ship dealers using aUEC during Alpha. The store and in-game terminals have separate inventories, so check the route you plan to use for the ship’s current availability and price.
Buy a ship through the RSI Pledge Store
The Pledge Store is RSI’s official route for buying ships as pledges. Browse or search its available ship list, filter by manufacturer, and open a listing to see details. The live listing is the best place to confirm whether a particular ship is currently offered and what it costs.
A pledge is separate from an in-game purchase: during Alpha, pledge-package UEC is not added to your website balance for spending in game. RSI says that credit is used when the game goes live. See RSI’s explanation of Game Package UEC.
Upgrading an existing pledged ship
If you already have a pledged ship, RSI’s ship-upgrade tool lets you change it to a ship of higher value when the upgrade is available. The tool shows available upgrades and their cost. RSI says applied upgrades are permanent. An upgrade normally changes the ship, rather than adding the extra items that might come with a direct ship pledge; if a concept ship is not currently available, you may need to wait until RSI offers it in the store. Read RSI’s ship-upgrade guide before committing.

Buy ships in game with aUEC
During Alpha, aUEC is the currency for in-game purchases. RSI names New Deal Ship Shop in Lorville and Astro Armada on ArcCorp as examples of ship dealers. Browse the showroom, but check the shop terminals for the fuller list of ships available to buy; display kiosks may sell only the ships shown there. After a purchase, you can spawn the ship at an ASOP terminal. RSI’s aUEC ship-buying guide explains the process.
Check carefully before confirming
RSI says in-game ship purchases cannot be sold back to the shop, and Support cannot reverse them. Confirm the exact ship and transaction details before you buy. RSI says these ships normally persist during Alpha, although rare progress resets may be needed for testing or economy balance; it says players will be notified if a reset is deemed necessary.

For a dated price and dealer reference, the community-maintained Star Citizen Wiki purchasing table reports an Alpha 4.9.0 update dated July 17, 2026: ship purchasing and dealer table. Treat it as a discovery aid, not a live guarantee. Prices and inventory can change between patches, so verify the current offer at the in-game terminal.
Rent first if you want to try a ship
If you are unsure whether a ship suits you, RSI suggests renting one before spending a large amount of aUEC. Renting is a way to test a ship in game; it is not a purchase.

Which buying route should you use?
| Route | What you pay with | Where to check availability and price | Key commitment |
|---|---|---|---|
| Direct pledge | Purchase through the RSI Pledge Store | Live Pledge Store listing | Confirm the listing and any included items before pledging. |
| Pledge upgrade | Cost shown by RSI’s upgrade tool | Upgrade tool, which shows available upgrades and cost | Applied upgrades are permanent and normally change the ship rather than adding a direct pledge’s extras. |
| In-game purchase | aUEC during Alpha | Dealer shop terminal in game | Cannot be sold back or reversed by RSI Support. |
| Rental | aUEC, as shown in game | In-game rental option | Lets you try a ship; it is not a purchase. |
Choose the Pledge Store if you want to pledge for a ship or adjust an existing pledge. Choose an in-game dealer if you want to spend Alpha aUEC. In either case, use the live listing or terminal—not an older catalog—to confirm the ship is currently available and check its price.
