Star Wars Battlefront Classic Collection brings the 2004 and 2005 Battlefront games together, with added maps and heroes and online battles advertised for up to 64 players. Aspyr acknowledged serious network problems at launch and issued patches through July 2024; those notes document fixes, but they do not establish the games’ current server health.
What’s included in the Classic Collection?
The package combines Star Wars Battlefront (2004) and Star Wars Battlefront II (2005), the multiplayer-era originals. It also bundles bonus content and presents the games’ campaigns, Galactic Conquest, Hero Assault, vehicle combat and space battles in one collection.
Bonus maps and heroes
- Battlefront (2004): Jabba’s Palace.
- Battlefront II (2005): Bespin: Cloud City, Rhen Var: Harbor, Rhen Var: Citadel and Yavin 4: Arena.
- Battlefront II heroes: Kit Fisto and Asajj Ventress.
- Hero Assault: expanded to every ground map.
The games draw on Episodes I–VI, with playable heroes and villains, ground vehicles and space combat. The collection advertises online matches for up to 64 players.
Which platforms have it, and what can you play offline?
StarWars.com lists Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4 and 5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S, and PC through Steam; it also notes Steam Deck support. Its release announcement gives March 14, 2024, while Steam lists March 13, 2024. The difference reflects platform-specific storefront dates, so use the relevant store listing for the date on a particular platform.

The collection includes campaigns and Galactic Conquest as well as online play. Aspyr’s PlayStation Blog announcement described the collection as playable online and offline. Local split-screen is also part of the package, though Aspyr’s later patch notes list split-screen fixes; those notes do not provide a complete platform-by-platform feature comparison.
For the Star Wars Battlefront Classic Collection on Steam, check the storefront for the current listing and platform-specific details before buying. The available official information confirms broad platform availability, but does not establish that every platform has identical options or performance.

Did Aspyr fix the launch problems?
Aspyr acknowledged a difficult launch. In a March 19, 2024 support update, the developer said: “At launch, we experienced critical errors with our network infrastructure. The result was incredibly high ping, matchmaking errors, crashes, and servers not appearing in the browser.”
What the official updates documented
- Update II, April 24, 2024: listed fixes for server-list feedback, connection failures, matchmaking screens that became stuck, server-list delays, public-server stability, crashes and a failure to start a 64-player match.
- Update III, July 17, 2024: listed further server-stability improvements and fixes involving crashes, split-screen, graphics and gameplay. Aspyr said Update III was available on all platforms.
These updates show that Aspyr addressed reported problems, but patch notes are not proof that every online issue was resolved. The latest official patch note identified here is Update III from July 17, 2024; it does not establish current server status, player counts or whether later updates were released. If online play is your main reason to buy, look for recent reports from players on your target platform rather than treating the launch fixes as a guarantee.

What do player reviews say?
Steam showed 22% positive from 6,258 English-language user reviews when its store page was accessed on October 8, 2026. That is a strongly negative Steam-only snapshot, not a cross-platform survey or an independent study, and review totals and ratings can change.
The score gives context for the collection’s reception, but it cannot tell you whether multiplayer is active now or how the game performs on a different platform. No current player-count or server-health figure is established by the official updates cited above.
