A former developer’s reported comments have renewed hopes for Star Wars: Battlefront III, but they are not an announcement. The report describes interest among former team members in reuniting—not an approved EA or DICE project, active development, a release date, or preorders.
What sparked hope for Battlefront III?
ScreenRant coverage indexed by IMDb reported that Mats Helge Holm, who worked on the recent Battlefront games, commented in a Reddit discussion that many people from the former team wanted to work on another installment. A May 24, 2025 report by Star Wars Union described the remarks as interest in reuniting former colleagues and said Holm did not expect the fan rally to produce an announcement. The ScreenRant story listing supplies the related coverage.

This is a reported personal expression of interest, not evidence that EA or DICE has approved a sequel. The German-language report reproduces translated remarks; no verified English original quote is available here, so the sentiment is best paraphrased rather than presented as Holm’s exact English wording.
Did EA announce Battlefront III?
No announcement is established by these reports. They do not confirm a greenlight, production, a release window, platforms, or preorders. Fan enthusiasm and former developers’ interest may explain why the possibility is exciting, but neither demonstrates that a game is being made.

What is Battlefront II’s update and online-service status?
In April 2020, EA said it was moving away from regular content updates while continuing servers, in-game challenges, recurring events such as Double XP, and game support. The statement was about the plan at that time, not a guarantee that every online feature would remain available indefinitely. EA’s product page says online features may be retired after 30 days’ notice.
