That is Khan’s September 2024 assessment—not a verdict on every platform or the game’s latest 2026 build.
Is Star Wars Outlaws worth playing?
In his review, published August 31, 2024 and updated September 6, Neowin reviewer Robbie Khan’s answer was largely no: he rated Star Wars Outlaws 4/10. The “helmet punching” in the headline captures his view that much of the experience became a slog, despite an enjoyable start. His score reflects one reviewer’s experience with the PC version at launch, rather than an independent assessment of the game after later updates.

What worked in the opening hours
Khan praised the appearance of some built-up areas and the cinematic quality of the audio. He also found the early blaster combat and speeder sections enjoyable. Those strengths gave the game an appealing opening, but did not sustain his enthusiasm across the rest of his playthrough.
Why the experience wore thin
Combat and stealth
Khan found both combat and stealth repetitive. The early appeal of the blaster did not prevent encounters from feeling monotonous as he continued.

Movement and pickups
He also criticized movement and the handling of dropped pickup weapons, which he said could make moment-to-moment play frustrating.
A bug that could block progress
In the September 6, 2024 update to his review, Khan reported a bug that could prevent him from leaving a location in the Trailblazer. The workaround he found was to load an earlier save, potentially losing progress. This is a dated report from his playthrough; it does not establish whether the issue remains in later versions.

What the PC performance criticism means
Khan played through Ubisoft Connect on a PC with an Intel Core i7-12700KF, NVIDIA RTX 4090, 64 GB of RAM, and 4K output. His observations about frame rates, memory use, RTXDI, DLSS, and image quality apply to that particular hardware and the settings he used. They are not universal benchmarks and should not be read as a prediction of performance on every PC.
The system-requirements table in the review reflects the publication period in 2024. It is not a current 2026 hardware guide.

What changed after the launch-era review
Switch 2 release and features
Ubisoft says Star Wars Outlaws launched on Nintendo Switch 2 on September 4, 2025. The company documents cross-progression through Ubisoft Connect, touch controls for menus and select minigames, gyroscope-assisted aiming, motion controls for key features, and an optimized handheld mode. Ubisoft described a goal of up to 30 fps in both TV and handheld modes; that is a stated target, not a guarantee of performance in every situation. The Switch 2 version includes the story packs.
The physical Nintendo Switch 2 release is a Game-Key Card. Ubisoft says an internet connection is required to download and install the game, and the card must be inserted to play. Check the specific retailer listing and region before buying a physical copy.

Documented post-launch fixes
Ubisoft’s October 21, 2025 Switch 2 Title Update 3 notes describe stability and texture-quality improvements, along with fixes for gameplay, graphics, and quest issues. These notes confirm that the game received post-launch fixes, but do not establish that every issue Khan described was resolved or identify the latest build in October 2026.

For a platform decision, the documented differences that matter include where and how you play, control options, cross-progression, and the Switch 2 physical-card download requirement.
Best Value
| Platform or feature | What Ubisoft documents | Practical consideration |
|---|---|---|
| Nintendo Switch 2 | TV and handheld play; touch controls for menus and select minigames; gyroscope-assisted aiming; motion controls for key features; optimized handheld mode; up to 30 fps stated as a target. | Useful if handheld play or those control options are priorities. Ubisoft’s target is not a universal performance guarantee. |
| Switch 2 physical Game-Key Card | Internet connection required to download and install; card must be inserted to play. | The physical card is not a self-contained offline installation. |
| Cross-progression | Ubisoft Connect supports cross-progression, according to Ubisoft’s Switch 2 FAQ. | Check account setup and the current platform-specific details before relying on a particular save-transfer path. |
| Other listed access routes | Ubisoft’s FAQ names Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, Amazon Luna, and PC storefronts in its publication context. | Regional availability and current storefront listings may change; verify them before purchasing. |
How to read this review today
Khan’s 4/10 is most useful as a record of his launch-era PC experience: it explains why the early atmosphere and action did not, for him, overcome repetition, technical frustrations, and a serious bug. Ubisoft’s later Switch 2 release information and 2025 patch notes add context, but they do not amount to a current, platform-by-platform re-review. The game’s October 2026 patch version, current price, and region-specific availability are not established by the cited sources.
